Ha ha! I love the humor in this. And dang it don't we all need to ask, What would Dolly do? She was a kind one for sure. "What would Dolly sing/If she rewrote you this song" might be my favorite line in all of this sprint.

what would Dolly do indeed. great refrain hook there, so like the repetition it takes on starting so many verse lines, right into dolly dolly dolly [..] dolly dolly dolly. the heavy dose of dolly definitely keeps her in the forefront of the mind, and i love that idea and theme. dolly the patron saint of introspective relationships. giving up a prayer to something that feels as hopeless as a long term relationship is relatable and classic, and the twist here being dolly is very charming.

the lines i most like in that context, and the song in general, are the "if she wrote you this song" and then into "if she rewrote this song". that clever twist here just echoes the entire song, right up to the end with the twist ending "everything i'll ever want" great decision to end the song on the verse of hope and love. the "internal" duet in this regard does take shape slowly in the song as the realization slowly happens, so i like that idea of that internal duet quit a bit. the stark contrast from the opening "imbecile" to "ever want" is stark and reflects our on hot blooded nature. and the advice here is great: go think about what dolly would say in this situation and you might find that your not as bloody brilliant and perfect as you think (but that is okay love conquers all).

I like the singable nature of the melody too, especially in the chorus.

This is a good relationship song. I think the menfolk often give in to their partners to keep the relationship smooth, so the line "Make this man do what I want" really seems appropriate.
