February 2026 Happy to be back for FAWM number 5 for me. Excited to let my inner glutton loose for the month to listen, listen, listen, write, write and sing. This is the place where I first started sharing my music, and got to feel like a member of a world of songwriters.
This season I’m dealing with the aftermath of a frozen pipes flood. Interested to see how that continues to trickle into my listening and writing.
Welcome to FAWM to @jazzanarchy and @jyoo who I collaborate with in the offFAWM season.
And thank you to @mckillop who first told me about this miraculous place.
Last year @wobbiewobbit did some postFAWM production for me on a couple of FAWM songs. My favorite was A Baby Got Born about the baby born on a NYC Subway during FAWM 2025. Here it is: https://on.soundcloud.com/lMIZt1JqW7ERR2Ljz4
From 2025 I love writing lyrics from scratch or to a piece of music or to a prompt. I’ll go ahead and come up with some music if I can’t convince someone else to do that part. I'll also sing and play some guitar. I also found a clarinet while I was cleaning out my sister's basement. I can still play a scale, so who knows. Maybe a little bit of keyboard too.

Yes. I’m pretty sure it was Song Town where we met up.
Nancy you are sooo lovely.. I really needed your comments today! Thanks so much for giving me motivation to keep going with my songs! Missing you in London!
Hooray for many more FAWM songs. I found myself thinking about flowers and songs, and came up with an image of writing a song being like planting a bulb that might come back again year after year and even spread.
Nancy, Here's a couple of haiku snippets to. I have thousands of these!
Our shrinking igloo Lives to house another day Vast herd of grandkids
Life in the slow lane Creeping through garden like slugs 'Neath broad brimmed straw hat
Thanks, Bill - I’ll tumble those around in my head a bit.
We are paired for random collaborations, Round 3! My email is on my profile if you want to strategize over there. :-)
Hi Nancy, Hope you are having a greaa FAWM2026. Always looking collab lyrics if you run across any good ones
its about time we collaborated on something
I’d love that Bill. I think I had some sort of an idea a few days ago, but I’m not sure where I put it - in my brain or on paper. Have you got anything in the tumble drier?
a boring year for me because there was nothing to do but read, write, and take care of estrella.
Hi there. We're partners for round 2 - fun!
Oh, good. If you have a scrap of music or a phrase, I’m happy to start there. Or I can shake my own brain and see what falls out.
I have an enduring love affair with minor keys, if that helps.
Yep. That's plenty.
Hey Nancy, how are you doing this FAWM?
Hey, Nadine - I’m having a good time so far. Doing a lot of listening and some collaborating. Sorry to hear about your injury.
Hey, Nancy, thanks for listening to my little Needle/Haystack tune. I never would have expected that song to make anybody cry. I get where you're coming from, though. I, too, am moved by the wonder of DIY music making, or DIY creation in general.
Nancy! I looked for you at the top of the month but wasn't sure if you were active - so glad to see that you are! Looking forward to listening to your work!
hi Nancy! ( nice to meet you ) - my Mom and sister are named Nancy so you are already one of my favourite FAWMers! let me know if you need any music to your lyrics :)
Hi, Nancy! Happy FAWM!
Hello ! I will be uploading at some point. Thanks for the words of encouragement
Hey! Hope you have a great FAWM. Sorry I wasn’t able to make the Friday zoom meetings you recommended. Life, as always, has been very wild this past year. As always, looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
Hey. Thanks for participating in the Adopt thingy.
It was cool of you.
I wish we could foster a pay-it-forward thing into it, so that this year's famlings will do likewise, but I can't see how to do that without drawing attention to it.
Maybe just as is is fine. I overthink.
People who like being FAWMlings will end up connecting down through the years. Great to cut the channel and trust the water to flow.
The description of children dressed in purple walking backward and scattering ashes is a deeply localized Andean ritual of respect, that is part of the the formal, large-scale procession of the Señor de los Milagros. The song contrasts my nostalgia for a culture that has a celebratory holiday procession every other week with one in the groundhog day culture of north america, where each day is the same except the ones where people hang flags from their eaves or remember a military victory.
Hey @nancycunning We’ve been paired to collab. Exciting. Do you have a particular brief in mind or would you just like to send me some of your lyrics? The baby on the subway sounds intriguing! X
Oh, that is so fantastic. It was fun to get to talk with you at the opening party in Saturday. Excited to have an excuse to make something together. I’ve got an idea for a lyric (or at least a chorus) that’s probably called “I’m new here” I’ll mean to write it down today and send it along by tomorrow. You can see if it’s at all your kind of thing, and feel free to add subtract decline. I’m also happy to write from a phrase (words or music) or a longer piece of music you’ve got banging around in your head.
Hi Nancy! Looking forward to another crazy month.
Hi Nancy I’ll send a possible collab later this week. Welcome back.
Hi Nancy! Can't wait to listen to what you post!!
Hey Nancy! Have a great fawm!
Fawm Like it’s February, which it accidentally is.
Hi Nancy, nice to see you in the cocktail Kumo thing. We’ll have to catch up some more another time!!!
Hello Nancy… Great to see you again. Let’s have some fun FAWMing!
Glad you're back, Nancy. I'll be looking for your creations.
Best wishes on FAWM 2026
Hey Nancy, I'm looking forward to hearing more of your music!
Nancy, have an awesome FAWM!!
Hi Nancy, have a great Fawm!
Have a Great FAWM!
Hi Nancy, have a great FAWM
Hi @nancycunning, I was curious, so I looked back in my catalog - we were first collaborating (outside of FAWM) in late 2021. Do you remember where we first encountered one another? Must have been one of the on-line songwriting communities, maybe Song Town?
