Part I: Evocation
by @sapient
Liner Notes
I had a grand idea coming in to this Sprint to write a 3-part EP with songs all focused around the same tonal centre, of three notes. It turns out they are B, C and E for no other reason than the first thing I wrote had those notes in and I reckoned it sounded kinda cool.... I thought it would be fun to be inspired by a different band that I liked for each one. Not to try and write a homage as such, rather to channel the feelings I get from their music into each of these new songs. Here's Part 1 then, channeling Behemoth
Lyrics
The path is lit The way is clear Ghosts of ignorance Banished in fear Relics bleached By flensing rain Thrice bound and bled In rituals of pain
Across the void This grasping hand A rush of time renewed Bound to the land This dark must rise For light to die Dominion sought Shattering the sky
I call To the night beyond I call To thee who slumbers I call A power unto me I fall Broken to begin anew

Love the intro which lulls you into a sense of calm, and then the music turns up a notch and the vocals kick in. Great stuff!
Super wonderful clear growly guitar sound. I think I see zombies being summoned from the ground ;) Cool guitar solo. You are good at your craft.
i really like when the vocals stop and the music kicks it up a notch.
Thats a monster riff to start! Great stuff as per. Love your non effected vocals. J$
The instrumental breakdowns are so effective to bracket the intense sung moments. Guitars, hot damn. And your vocals are so perfect
It kicks. Expected after-vocal solo to be longer))
I am so here for this. Who needs morninig coffee when I can listen to this. This rips!
I am here for that chugging guitar. And the mayhem that kicks off at the one minute mark, of course. Crikey. Quite honestly, I wouldn't even know where to start to make something like this. It's awe-inspiring.
This is a blitz, i love that drumming and off it goes at pace. Very dark lyric suits the speed of this path. Powerful interlude with a cool guitar!then a smacking solo
Holy crap what a ride!!!!! This hit me like a freight train...kickass writing and playing! The machine gun kicks are slammin' and the guitar work is absolutely slaying!!! RAWK!!!
Face. Melted. This was everything I was hoping it would be and more! That track is so fire my ears are smouldering 🔥
Great! It does have a heavy, dark feel, and I like how the beat comes in like something pounding at my door. The intro and other interludes take their time, which is really satisfying. All those drum fills are so cool, too. I dig metal vocals, maybe because I could never do them, so I really enjoyed listening to what you've created here. Frenetic and determined and hard, but with some room to breathe (like that break around 2:00) and build. Good stuff!
Those guitar parts in particular are great! And, I don't know if it's intended, but the lyrics sound like a prelude to a longer story.
Indeed they are! It seems I'm writing a connected triptych of tunes... 😳
I love a good trill and whammy downward. Looking forward to parts 2 and 3
Ah, that really scratched a very specific itch in my brain! This is excellent, as usual, and I love this idea for an EP.
As usual, this is masterful. The double kick is just machine gun-like. Such a symphonic piece.
I love the idea of using three notes and building such a monster riff/song. I very much like the arc of the song. You take the time to build it up properly. Those guitars sound great. That kick sounds great, too.
Ow, my neck!
Yeah, that's what I got for this at the moment. Nice work! 🤘
