FAWM 2026 February: 19 songs + 2 collabs with demos, 4 lyrics-only, 1 head cold.
March 1 through June 8: 100 Days of Ukulele -- covered many songs and finished/demoed 10 new originals (including those 4 lyrics-only drafts from February).
July 2026 Song Sprint: I was on vacation, out-of-state and visiting friends for 7 of the 9 days, so I focused on lyric drafts and wrote something for every Skirmish prompt. Lyrics: 56 Finished with Music: 5 Collabs: 2
I WILL finish all of these here, if you want to follow: http://tinyurl.com/seligsongs
Hi, I'm Brooklyn-based ukulele player and teacher Jenny Selig (she/her) and I joined my first rounds of FAWM and 50/90 in February 2023, so 2026 marks my 4th year of FAWM, with two 50/90s under my belt.
With a background in poetry, theater, and performance, I have been playing uke since 2017, sharing ukulele-based songwriting on social media and in-person since 2018, and teaching uke and leading jams the past 5+ years. I’ve performed at several #filk festivals and was New Voices songwriting guest at OVFF 2025.
I made up names for the genres I most often write in: 💀 #Americanasati - Americana infused with philosophical meditations on mortality and dread. (Americana + Maranasati) 🐿 #MidEmFoke - Midwestern Emotional Folk uke
—- A note on collaborations: If I write a lyrics-only draft and you offer to set it to music, please know I might also create my own solo, acoustic ukulele versions with any of my lyrics later, and the melody might be different, which doesn’t mean I don't like the music you or anyone else created around them.
I do also enjoy co-writing and setting other people's lyrics to music, as well as creating vocals/lyrics around someone else's instrumental piece. So if you want to collab, let's discuss.
