Skirmish: fall (@melodic)Liner Notes
Wait for it...
This song is more #punk than me!
Debs: When we were most of the way through the hour I said to @artie "I don't think this is a skirmish song anymore". 🤣
Lyrics
Fall into the infinite abyss Right into the overflow Gross misstep, an easy slip Steady as she, steady as she goes
Honey on your tongue Salt on your lips Every road Leads to this
Fall into the infinite abyss Down into the world you know One small step, a single twist Steady as she, steady as she goes
Honey on your tongue Salt on your lips Every road Leads to this
Ever-racing heart Ropes around your wrist Take this last Parting gift
Rising river take me Rising river take me Rising river take me Rising river take me Rising river take me (FA…..) Rising river take me (..L…) Rising river take me (...L…) Rising river take me (....ING…)
Honey on your tongue Salt on your lips Every single road always leads to this
Stumbling in the dark One final kiss Time to take this last parting gift
Take this last Parting gift

Jeez ya'll. This might kick a little too much ass if you ask me. Vintage punk feel, the music rips, the vocals shred, this really kicks too much butt. The "rising river take me" build up into the countdown: chef's kiss. This rules
This song makes me want to hear an entire album! GREAT job on putting it all together. Keep rocking this Punk sound
The combinations of @debs clarity of vocals and all those grinding guitars creates a sonic space I love. The build is so satisfying and in true pink fashion we just continue straight on from there to the end. Parting gift indeed.
So great... that driving nervous guitar is as punk as it gets, but the bridge! The bridge though! (I'm pretty fond of the bridge)
Oh what a tune guys! Really catchy melodies, great rhytmic hooks and punk attitude 1378% at least. Great instruments and well balanced, so I have to say I love it! Also the bridge was phenomenal!
This song is also more punk than me, but I aspire to be this punk. ;) I think the melody is terrific, and was hooked by the rhythm of the "steady as she, steady as she." Really nice guitar and drum, too. Sweet stuff!
That's so epic guys. Great sound. Great mix. So intense.
DANG. You know I love punk rock, and this absolutely rips. So fast, the guitars sound awesome, and the vocals are killer on top of it. This genuinely sounds like something I’d have had on a mixtape in the 90s. Bravo!
Thanks man! That’s such a stunning comment. I’d been itching to do a song like this for so long. In the 90s that’s all I was playing and writing. I’m glad this one came organically instead of forcing it.
Never done a skirmish, so I don't even know how something like this could logistically come about (you guys in the same room?)--but however you did it THIS IS GREAT!! Wonderful collaboration! ❤️
Goodness like some alt punk i listened too many moons ago like Xray spex. Excellent no smart comments i just sat in and enjoyed the ride - it was all good!
Hellz yeah! Rock on!! 🤘🏻
First words when I finished: "What? Wow!" XD I just came from Deb's other track w/ Liz and was NOT expecting your voice to go so well on a punk track?! And I've never listened to anything from Artie before, but what a sick instrumental! This is one of those songs too where I don't even know exactly what it's about, but the lyrics are so good, I really want to. I got vibes of Bikini Kill (although I've never technically listened to them, I can imagine them sounding like this given the punk style), Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Linda Lindas. Such a cool collab @debs and @artie, great job you guys! :D
Killer vocals! Such energy and drive and 🤘🤘🤘Really nice collab!
Not usually a punk fan but I like the best of any genre - and that’s what this is! Very well done. Hope you get to do it live.
Hard driving beat and wicked vocals. Love the quite section towards the end and then it picks up again..nice collab
This goes so hard!!! Reminds me of a mix of rebel grrrl bands I grew up up with (L7/bikini kill) and maybe like yeah yeah yeahs era New York rock. I love everything about this!!!!
That track is smoking hot, and the vocal riffage is so dang impressive! Steady as she, steady as she go.......ooo.ooo.oo.oo.OOOes. Cool! And I'm glad it took longer than skirmish time to make this, If you had completed it in an hour, I'd just give up and never write again, because I would feel like a complete failure compared to y'all. 😀
THIS ROCKS. Blistering pace, solos, killer vocals. love that bridge with the Rising river take me and then the "faaaaaaaallling" holy cow so good.
Whoah! I wasn’t expecting such a fabulous driving punk rocker from the two of you! Fantastic driving beat and awesome guitars! Love the contrast between the bridge and the chorus and verses. Awesome vocals! Wonderful chorus! I am awed by the breadth of genres that you do so well.
This is so awesome! I would definitely buy this album. Instantly one of my favorite songs of the FAWMiverse ever. totally thought you were going to do the el hefe nofx thing at the end "This guy's more punk than me.." in all the cartoon voices.
Love the rising river bridge part. great lyrics and chop yr head off shredding throughout!
great collaboration. Absolutely stellar song!
Thanks so much for your comment, Travis. Wow that’s really cool. And you can bet I was thinking of Hefe when I added that liner note 😆
I like the lyrics and love the punk action. The guitars rock! Great change-up with the chorus. Excellent work and wonderful collab!
