Lyrics
Poultrygeist
I was walking down the high street toward the busy town When I spied an old house, man it looked rundown. As I approached…what I saw with my wondering eyes, So many chickens moving together, strangely polite.
[Chorus] When too many chickens arrive at your front door And the air smells of feathers and undone chores, With their glowing eyes—filled the sky with light An eerie sight to see , well after midnight.
These noisy chickens, next day they came back again They had unfinished business – oh you know, they had a plan Ominous clucking, echoed through the screens Feathers drifting where no bird should ever be.
Doors cracking open, neighbours try to pry Night wind blowing their clucking far and wide They were congregating , some holding placards Like a fog drifting all across the side yard.
They arrived at the front door, and sounds echoed around Claws scratching on the hard packed ground They refused to leave- they planned a heist Steal the garden, steal the house--- poultrygeist.
Well they arrived and never left as the story goes Kept parading and invading- now everyone knows When too many chickens arrive at your front door They’re sure to encourage more and more and more.

Just the title had me convinced I’d enjoy this — and I wasn’t wrong! That chorus is especially fun . I like how the lyrics reveal more of the chickens’ sinister plans as the song goes on.
Hello there. Just back from my travels to Barbados, where these chickens were everywhere. And I always like to make up a tall tale.
Poultrygeist, lol!!! This is so great! My favorite ominous line was “when the air smells of feathers and undone chores” - transported me back to my grandparents’ farm in Nebraska, where I imagined this whole saga taking place. Do you have chickens yourself? Wondering about the inspiration! Fun listen!
I have just returned from Barbados, where chickens run free in my neighbourhood. One particular house was the hangout for too many chickens, so whenever I walked by. I thought of a way to describe the cacophony there. I, myself, have no chickens.
Good to see, welcome to the party! great title What a fun song carried off so well as usual!
Thanks John. Getting back home is always a great transition. Computer issues today, so a video was the answer to posting.
fun one and clever title - there is a setting that will mirror reverse the image - you look like a lefty if it's around the 'right' way people will be able to learn from your videos
Thanks for the tip about reversing the image. When I was on holiday, I saw more than 60 chickens in that house and yard.
Fun story! You never want a horde of angry chickens at your door...
Thanks. Chickens can be fierce.
Marching around carrying signs? Chicketeers? This is a lot of fun.
There’s always a lot of free range chickens where we stay in Barbados. They can be very comical.
aw love this, so fun! your energy is amazing and infectious.
I made a video instead of mp3 due to my computer failure today. So iPad saved my day.
This is so fun. Love the line "the air smells of feathers and undone chores". Never knew that chickens could organize that well.
