Brand New

Liner Notes
Finally I have my voice (mostly) back after being sick last week! Although, my right ear is still fairly plugged up, so forgive any oddities in the mix, as I'm not sure I'm quite hearing everything right yet.
Approached the writing process for this much differently than I usually do - by making a beat > bass line > adding rhythm keys, pad, and lead line > and then I toplined it and added the vocal harmonies to finish everything off.
Lyrics
Hey there, lover boy, tell me what you’re thinkin’ ‘bout Tell me what’s behind those dark eyes Hey there, lover boy, I don’t wanna live without I don’t want any other guy
Oh, oh, oh, oh… Say the words you say and do the things you do Oh, oh, oh, oh… You know how to make a woman feel brand new
Hey there, lover boy, lucky me I found a fit Here I always wanna stay Hey there, lover boy, make a promise, this is it Oo, lover, don’t you ever go away

Gorgeous song, singing and playing. So happy to hear your songs again 🎵✨️🎶
Man, I love this. You're one of the artists here just working on a different level than the rest of us, delivery is perfect. You're locked into the style and letting it guide the song where it needs to go while still making it yours.
I'd hear this playing over the PA in a record shop and buy the album. Very cool!
Loving the vocal and then the "oh, oh, oh, oh" came in and I REALLY started swooning! Great, great song! ❤️
Sultry and silky - those slow "ohs" and those gentle background vocals make it work!
What they said. Very sultry. I have musical buddies that say the way you appriached this with drums and bass isthe right way to go. It certainly worked for you here. Lovely.
Hottttt! The bass groove slinks along sexily, the sultry vocal delivery, the "brand new" line. So hot I got burned.
So happy to have your voice back with FAWM!!! Yea!!! Gorgeous, silky smooth - groovy bass line - can feel the heat!
Slow jams 4evar. Keeping this in your lower register is just the right sultry and gives the higher backing lines the space they crave. The oh, oh, ohs are a Destiny's Child callback in the best way and the whole chorus is a perfect pop hook. Repeat it some more! I'd say that's a very lucky lover boy.
Oh yeah, I like this! It flows, it charms, and you make it very easy to get into your groove. Your lower register is pretty sultry (not a word I would use when you sing in that register on worship songs😁), and is incredibly effective here. Rhythm, harmonies, production, everything, fit together like a hand in a kid glove. Sweet!
PS - Sue says she'd like to see the music video of this, please!
Good to hear you again! oh you've nailed this slow sultry style.
Hannah's back! 😀 Fantastic slow burn you've cooked up, the layered "oh's" are money. Really great slice of 90's R&B.
You nailed the 90s r&b vibe so well I was immediately transported back to middle school. This is so so tasty! The layered vocals on “oh oh”…omg is all I can say. Glad your voice is back and sounding totally amazing!
this is the essence of a slow jam. romantic, sexy, and sincere. this aint no foolin' around. its the real love deal, perfect for late night couch dreaming, leading to a new day.
To echo Jon, this is smooth with a capital SMOOooooth. Interesting to hear you built the track then toplined it. Lovely to hear your voice again (would love to have it pushed forward a tiny bit more in the mix). Glad you’re feeling better, albeit with a gunky right ear. Onwards….
Very smooth! Classic r&b pop. That insistent rhythmic push of “YOU know HOW to MAKE a…” perfectly captures the feel. I usually dislike loads of reverb but it’s the right touch here!
So smooth! Great to hear you again this FAWM. Your vocal control is out of this world. Love the lilting delivery and ghostly harmonies. Sweet groove throughout!
