This is either my 18th or 14th FAWM depending on how ya want to count. Looking forward to another batch of who knows what with who knows who.
Oh, and Fuck ICE. And transphobes, fuck them too.

History: I've been doing this since 2009, and hit my 14 for 6 years running. I took 2015 off (minus one song), started 2016 with good intentions but was short circuited, spent 2017 on a solo project (except for one song), and took 2018 off (just one song). 2019 thru 2023 were back in the saddle with collab-heavy FAWMs. 2024, just one song and then took a break, back in the saddle for 2025. So here we are.
And I'm in a band with @johncrossman and @nancyrost. We are more amazing than you can fathom. I was in a band with @tfish77 from like 1992-1995. We redefined rock as you know it, but then it went back. And I jam with @snort sometimes, since he lives down the street. We're not redefining anything.

Gratuitous Self-Indulgent AI Statement:
Since it's a hot button topic this year, and will be for every year moving forward:
Unless explicitly called out, none of my songwriting uses any form of generative AI. Most of my songwriting uses more traditional forms of computer or web-based tools, like rhyming dictionaries or references to chord charts.
All of my production uses products that incorporate non-generative AI, explicitly the iZotope suite of mixing and mastering tools. Much of my production (and some writing) includes tools like Toontrack's EZDrummer and EZKeys, which I'd describe as AI-adjacent. None of my production uses what I'd describe as generative AI, and I've been using most of these tools without issue for the better part of 15 years.
FAWM is a self-challenge. In my personal view, using generative AI removes the challenge from writing, unless the challenge itself is to use generative AI for something.
That's more than you care about, but it's where I am today.
