Sail On, Sail On

Liner Notes
The first line came over coffee, and just started building from there. It was kind of a stream of consciousness needs a lot of work. Went from the despair to sailing - LoL - WTH - HAHA, maybe break into two songs IDK... But here it is warts and all there were some rhymes that presented that I liked "run and winged foot ones - also liked "Wind swept flight stepped..."
the pattern isn't consistent but it doesn't bother me at the moment as this can actually work well depending upon the musical treatment... almost there!
Lyrics
V I Hang on my friend Don’t despair I can see the surface We’re almost there And we’ll break on through Breathe fresh air
Could be the chill of night Or a burning day Fear and fright Calm Swept away Let’s light a torch So we won’t stray
PC And sail on, sail on together C Cleat the sheet and set the jib Swinging hammocks for our crib Work with the wind stepped from our brood sliding along the latitudes
V II A jade full moon, no land in sight Slow and steady through the night A cracking dawn and hail Mary blue Another day of just me and you
From our home we have gone Gulls appear won’t be long For land to stand on the horizon line A new world for us beyond all time
PC And sail on, sail on together C Wind swept flight stepped from our brood Cleat the sheet and set the jib To race over the water’s latitude Swinging hammocks for our crib
V III Like modern and ancient No motor’s hum Together the weather We’re on the run Reach for the speed Of the winged foot ones And Fly on, Fly on the wind, the wind

I love these lyrics. A relationship through thick and thin. Some cool language and intriguing images. Gives me a folksy vibe. I listened to the song first (which is fantastic), but wanted to say how much I like this write as well 💖
You are too kind to "Double Comment"! Thanks Andrea!
That gave me a very clear image of sailing on the ocean blue. Freedom, uncomplicated delight, with the wind in my face and the salt on my lips. Well written and appreciated. Cheers
I love when stream-of-consciousness just goes where it wants to go - it's all an exploration after all! 😂 I'm really interested in whether you end up keeping it as one song or splitting it into two. I can see it both ways actually! The first six lines especially speak to me, and I love the brood/latitudes rhyme.
these are really intriguing lyrics, thank you for sharing! you created quite beautiful imagery here.
