Oh So Tiresome

Liner Notes
Recorded this in one take on my phone because the studio room in my new apartment is still in a state of chaos. Moving across the country and going directly into a new school year has been a lot, and with the general state of the world on top of it…. I’m tired, yall.
Lyrics
If you don’t clear away the dust and debris And take it down to surface level regularly You might find you’ve fallen behind All the thoughts pile up and you’re somewhere buried beneath
If you don’t keep the wheel spinning around You might start to feel yourself running aground The mechanism freezes, productivity seizes Silly rabbit didn’t you hear that the squeaky wheel gets all the grease
But it’s oh so tiresome When you don’t even know what you’re on about It’s oh so tiresome When you open your mouth and nothing comes out
I’ve worked through the struggle, the stress and the strain I’ve realized that there’s no more room in my brain Ideas keep flowing but it ain’t easy going The pressure keeps building and I’m trying to find sweet release
Because it’s…
I am sick to death of all the noise Up to and including my own voice What could I possibly volunteer And who is even there to hear?
Because it’s… When you’re already out of things to say Yes it’s… And it wouldn’t make a difference anyway

Good to see the hamster wheel is still spinning amongst all the chaos!
Oh, I can relate to this one. A lot. Those lines drifting off into ellipsis are all too familiar: the stalled thoughts, the uncompleted sentences, the "what was I just about to do again?" And this is in absolutely no way ugly; I aspire to write stuff this deft and sweet.
I feel ya on the "studio chaos" (though I don't have a cross country move as an excuse). This song is so good, and I think the recording aesthetic is perfect for it. Uglying up the pretty only makes it prettier. Reminds me of some Aimee Mann stuff. Good luck in the new place and new school year.
You have this labelled as an uglytrack, but you're wrong, Carley. The writing is superb and the melody and performance work so well. I'm surprised you've done this good when relocation is part of your life.
Lovely work. The chromatic(?) note moving through the chords is ear-addictive. The first lines were so relatable literally, and then the fourth brought home to, yeah, sum up my brain, lol.
Sad anthem for 5-9. Ow, I mean work cycle, not this sprint)). Do not think this is uglytrack.
