Hi, I'm Carley! Elementary music teacher, multi-instrumentalist, benevolent overlord of Bad Song Club, and inveterate seeker of joy. I grew up on the Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Tom Lehrer, John Prine, CSN (and sometimes Y), Ani Difranco, Fiona Apple, and lots of Tin Pan Alley jazz.

This is my 18th year/19th FAWM. Where does the time go??

My songwriting mottos include, "What would Paul McCartney do?"; "Who cares, write it anyway"; "Anything's a bluegrass song"; "Why drink rusty tap water?"; and probably more that escape me now.

I'm always up for the possibility of a collaboration, especially in the first half of the month, so drop me a line and I'll do my best to make it happen! Also, please refrain from leaving "constructive" criticism on my songs; FAWM is a place for risk-taking and woodshedding and giving half-formed ideas a chance to develop—and besides, I critique myself enough already. :)

Hi, Carley. I'm trying to sneak in at the very end of the first half of the month to see if you're up for a collaboration. If so, I've a mild preference for lyrics because I can write them so much faster than I can get my singing to sound OK. Or I'm happy to write chords and a melody if you sing it. And I've also enjoyed a collaboration where both of us wrote parts of the lyrics and parts of the music. Any of that sound appealing to you?

Hi Eric! Let’s make it happen! Easiest for me would probably be you doing lyrics and sending them over. I can do the music, and then from there we can brainstorm if any lyrical or musical tweaks need to be made. Just send them to Bad Song Club and I’ll take a look :)

Your motto is "What would Paul McCartney do?" That's amazing-- that's like my whole theme for FAWM this year. I spent January doing a complete listen-through of his solo catalog and I'm writing lyrics this year based on my own McCartney-related prompts. :)
