Liner Notes

Well, I haven't played guitar or written a song since the pandemic -- sad, but true! I guess I had reasons, but none of them sound good now (ha, ha). I broke my digital audio box, so I have a new one with new software all new plugins -- so basically, I am pretty lost.

I guess I also have to re-learn what makes a good song, too! I figure that if I can write one song this challenge (or two), the whole thing will be a resounding success no matter what.

Enough rambling, here's the song. (Volume is a bit low!)

Note: accidentally deleted part of the cajon somehow. I was able to add it back in from an autosave backup!

Oh, wow! Welcome back to writing. I like that approach of writing about writing as a way to get going again. There’s this gentle acceptance of the whole world that oozes through and makes it feel like the non-writing years were just you refilling your well. Looking forward to what all spills out.

This is a wonderful song! I’m so glad you can back to your music! I love your great guitar playing and gorgeous gentle warm vocals and flowing melody to deliver this beautiful love song! Really lovely! I love the space the instrumental bridge creates for reflection to soak in the goodness of the song.

Cheers to being back at it! Sure sounds great to me! Your vocals are smooth and easy to listen to. Guitar is gentle and frames the singing quite well! As someone who spent quite a number of years away from songwriting (about 13) before coming back to FAWM in 2024, I totally get the rusty feeling! I regret it all in a way, but I had a lot of life going on. Whatever the reason…They say the best time to plant a tree(write a song?)was 10 years ago, but the second best time is now. And you’re here and that’s great! Thanks for sharing your work with us!

I'm listening to this with the back door open and the crickets chirping in the background and it sounds just wonderful. Loving the guitar layers so much, the cajon, the vocals, all of it. It's giving me Iron & Wine vibes in the best way. It's so cozy I listened several times.

Love your soft vocals here, it's really warm and inviting, meshing perfectly with the guitar layers. This has a nice groove, too.

Lovely, comfortable, personal folk goodness! Sweet lead guitar, and now I miss my cajon-playing days. The guy whose cajon I played was dating a friend of mine, and when they broke up I lost a music-making, beer-drinking pal.
