Liner Notes

I recently got a Korg Volca Beats just for a fun little toy to muck about with. Limited as it is, I love the cheesy little analogue beats, and so I am going to use it to perpetrate #uketronica. If that's not a genre, it really should be. This also involves playing a uke through a Sonicake Pocketmaster's Dream Pop preset.

So anyway. This isn't the sort of thing I usually do but it was all the more entertaining for me given that. Behold, then, a song about the thing that keeps us all down to earth.

Lyrics

Shake the tree, the apple fell Watch it tumble down the well Swirling clouds of all that's left Cosmic dust will coalesce

With gravity Gravity

And we all fall down We all fall down

Bring together what's held dear Hold on to the atmosphere Tides are turning, changing fate No escape so feel the weight

Of gravity Gravity

And we all fall down We all fall down We keep our feet on the ground Then fall down

You don't have to force it when you're in a stable orbit Although everything is relative and maybe something has to give

And we all fall down We all fall down We keep our feet on the ground Then fall down

Nice and quirky, with lots of interesting sounds and effects. Oddly inspirational as well!

I am enjoying this very much. I like the high melodic inserts. It gives me a "gospel" feel, but I have trouble identifying which church. 😄

I think you need to know how much this comment amused me :). Whichever church it is, I would like to play the organ please. Thanks for the listen!

This is lovely! Particularly the delay on "Gravity" and the harmonies on the chorus. Great stuff.

I've been looking forward to hearing what you were going to be getting up to with the Volca. This did not disappoint! You're really stretching out with harmonies and production too, and it's really paying off for me. I love this!

Uketronica for the win! I’m always on the look for ways to make more out of the couple instruments I can play a bit, because I’m getting tired of tinkering with the piano roll in my DAW for hours, as I’m already spending too much time on screens. This is great inspiration. The harmonies in the chorus, and the bridge got my ears perking up.

HERE for the uketronica. I love how this sounds like you and also like something else entirely. The synth instrumental is so good. I don’t think there are any questions as to whether you’re having fun doing this 😀

yes uketronica! yes song-naming/lyric-using twinning! love an ode to gravity with pretty words and metaphor. well done :)

YES. This does not dissapoint. I came here for uketronica and was given uketronica.

I actually really dig this, the effect you have on the uke is very spacey, which is super appropriate. I am a sucker for good use of synth. Yay vocal harmonies!! You did not disappoint with those, they're very pleasant listening. I also love how the lyrics are subtly saying more than meets the eye. That B7 chord is so well-placed, too. Musical squee!

Love the echo on gravity and the bloopy goodness of it all.

Nice! Love the lyrics and you give extra points for being the first songwriter ever to use the word "coalesce" in a lyric and make it work.

I particularly liked the repeated and receding "gravity" lines and the harmony in the chorus.

Very different i really enjoyed the whole thing, in my head i heard a uke note playing and running along with it - in fact i played along
