I almost wrote a Klingon opera!

Liner Notes
My first Slothcore in ages! And it felt so good to mix it! I borrowed a Sonodrum, recorded it four times, ran it through the shredder, slowed it down to 30 bpm, and added echo like crazy! Then a dash of synthesizer and a gong (thanks to freesound.org!). And some random toning too!
At one point, I thought it would be a great idea to sing in Klingon! But it sounded... well... not great!

Cool, gentle sounds yet also like an echoing voice from beyond, calling from another place and time.
😁. I’m going to repeat myself. I think you are so cool! 😊I think I heard this on SoundCloud..
I like it, whether Klingon or not!
This is gorgeous!! Oh I love this soundscape. The tinkling and shifting like a glacier, but with the warmth of a hot spring beneath. Though maybe I'd have enjoyed hearing a Klingon opera, your vocals are so pretty I am glad you chose these instead! At first I thought there might be some Japanese words but I think that is just coincidence of similar sounding syllables from what you said below? Words (I thought) I heard: Hiyaku : leap or hurry Kane / Okane: bell / money Shikiya: total darkness (archaic) Some of them would fit the mood, even if that was not your intent, but a person who is fluent in Japanese might disagree a lot! Anyway, fascinating, beautiful piece and so immersive. (I also really enjoyed the two big gongs as accents) 💙
I'm glad you like it! I can only recommend it – it's relaxing and fun to experiment and mix things up as you please!
Interesting that I apparently sang Japanese words! And perhaps these words are an invitation to create something with them!
I first tried Klingon, then I wanted to sing something in English. But I couldn't think of anything. Then I also had the idea of singing a haiku in Japanese (I have a collection), but that seemed presumptuous, and I don't know how the words are pronounced. But perhaps that found its way into my imaginary language. Also because the music reminded me of a temple.
It is beautiful, and I totally get temple vibes. I am experimenting myself today, who knows if it will work out but that's the beauty of it - it's a kind of risk!
Ominous tones, and the metallic scrapes add a nice bit of tension to make sure any slothcore naps don't end up in a full-on snooze. The chimes and bell tones and gong are wonderfully atmospheric.
The vocal chanting is ace. But—no #Klingon? You should try it, it's a lot of fun!
Thank you so much! I tried Klingon, but it ended in a coughing fit! Can you speak it?
A little bit, yeah... https://fawm.org/songs/323524
Exotic and strange! Vocals always beautiful, no matter what language you sing in. I like the gongs and the dark synth and the various noises that float in and out. The vibe is somewhere between a dream and a nightmare!
Thank you! 🙏😊 Yes, I also think there's something unsettling about it! A bit of a Lynchian feeling.
Hey, I never expected any Klingones to compose an opera! 😀 But you did it, and it works wonderfully! Really great sounds and a magical atmosphere! I'm deeply impressed.
Vielleicht muss ich ja doch noch Klingonisch lernen, damit es was wird mit der Oper?! Aber ehrlich gesagt, es gibt doch schönere Sprachen! Danke fürs anhören!
What a cool meditative beginning. It's doing the coolest echoing panning thing in my monitors and raising the hairs on my head! It's got a dominant seventh bluesy feel close to the two minute mark.
Wow, I love this music. I also have a tongue drum and I really like these kinds of instruments great work.
Thank you! I layered it 4 times! I‘m not able to play it, unfortunatly.
You had me at Klingon opera! Sweet track! No clue what you're saying, but it sounds great! Feeling pretty chill after listening to this...
I don't even know what I'm singing! But it's not Klingon! Thanks for listening and for your kind words! 🙏😊
Love Slothcore and the 30 bpm you're doing here. Singing is good. Excellent work this FAWM!!
