the whisper-singing gives the effect that the narrator is singing this as they are quietly leaving while everyone else is asleep, before anyone wakes up or noticed. nicely done!

Do I believe this narrator or is this just the escape fantasy that makes life and love tolerable when things are rough? The quiet singing makes it feel extra like an internal monologue that is maybe going nowhere again.
