I Don’t Mind the Rain

Nancy: When David and I got paired for the Random Collaboration in Week 2, the phrase David suggested was Minor Keys. I wrote what I thought of as an anti-valentine song. When David sent me this beautiful music, I felt like I had to rewrite the lyric to be a more honest love song. David took my vocal tracks and did some magic to bring out the tender vulnerability
@mdavisto says: That’s three times this year I've had to put music to words, which is not in my wheelhouse. Undeniably satisfying, though; I enjoyed this. Thanks, @nancycunning.
#randomcollaborations is fast becoming my favourite FAWM challenge, and @coolparadiso is a steely eyed missile man.
Lyrics
I don’t mind the rain I just hate this crazy weather And the way you ask me questions When we’re sitting here together
I don’t mind our life But I still can’t stand to let you see me cry
Is it you, is it me This is not how it’s s’posed to be And I don’t even know what needs to change Is it you, is it me Can you maybe this once pretend to believe that I don’t mind the rain
I don’t mind the rain But I’m so scared in heavy weather We kept all the pieces Can’t we put it back together
I don’t mind our life So how come I can’t stand to let you see me cry
You’re still you, I’m still me We’re still both we’re s’posed to be So maybe we neither one really need to change
You’re still you, I’m still me We’re still us even when we can’t see clearly I don’t mind the rain
I don’t mind our life So how come I can’t stand to let you see me cry
You’re still you, I’m still me We’re still both we’re s’posed to be So maybe we neither one really need to change
You’re still you, I’m still me We’re still us even when we can’t see clearly I don’t mind the rain

This is fabulous! I love the lyrics and the insight to relationships and the importance of taking time to reflect on what it is that holds two people together. It is such a great/hook metaphor and developed so well. Gorgeous gentle reflective vocals and music that matches the sentiment of the lyrics so well! Kudos to you both!
Ooo that bass is sensual and tender. I’m amazed this started as a random collab. The lyrics and music go beautifully together. Big win with this one!
That piano figure after "see me cry" is so good. This is a lovely ballad. Well done both! 💚
