Needed a Friend

#acoustic #live #americana #musiclover I got this idea during the summer when my wife was out of town for a weekend. I had a few plans to do things with friends in her absence. However, 2 out of 3 of the plans I made got cancelled at last minute. So I was faced with an entire Saturday without much to do. Feeling a bit bored and sorry for myself, I strolled over to the Loring Park Art fair. There I discovered a band playing on one of the small stages, that I really loved. It was a beautiful day, and a great vibe. I stayed for 2 sets, and had a great time as their music really spoke to me. I walked home in such a great mood, and marveled at the power of music to lift your soul. I wrote the opening verses and finished it this week. I tried to recreate the live music atmosphere, by recording it live and adding some Self-indulging applause for tspoon. š This is a valentine love letter to live music. I love to support my local live bands.
Lyrics
Well he needed a friend, but didnāt know where to begin He was walking down his street when he heard a violin He walked into the bar, and saw a band playing hard and he sat down to have a good listen
When he heard their songs, he would sing right along He couldnāt stop himself from smiling When the band took a break, he felt wide awake He'd never heard a sound so beguiling
When they returned to the stage, they began to play the song he knew in his heart and his brain the feelings that he felt, rang just like a bell his eyes welled with tears, with the refrain
The music all the while, was like an old friends smile he felt a joy inside, for the first time in awhile he had longed for a friend, when that day was to begin his spirit had been lifted, the songs spoke to him
The music had this Power, he was listening for hours He never grew tired, the songs they had inspired The band raised their hands, as the crowd did stand and the folks in the bar, cheered loud and hard

Amen to this! You can't measure the impact that music has on people's lives. You've really captured this sentiment and I love the catchy guitar melody at the end of the verses. I'm getting Jonathan Richman vibes which in my book is a wonderful thing.
Yeah! Give it up for t-spoon ladies and gentlemen! I love this ode to the power of music. I swear thereās nothing better. Iām kind of kicking myself for not seeing a band on Friday night that probably would have done the same for me. Too many excuses, itās cold. Itās dark. Nobody wants to go. Itās too far. Traffic sucks. Your line, āhe longed for a friend when the day was to begin,ā itās like, music is that friend sometimes. Love that you caught this feeling. Your guitar playing has really come along nicely too. Really stood out on this one. And I like the applause you added. One more time for t-spoon!
Thanks. š that made me LOL. I definitely had fun recording it. It truly is good for the soul no doubt
ooh i like this a lot! super catchy and fun, the concept is great and the execution of your idea is really impressive. nice job!
The rounds of applause for t-spoon are loud in this world of music lovers at FAWM Central. You captured so many aspects of the healing nature of music, especially live music, and how it eases so many pains that all us delicate humans can have. I love that it took place in our beautiful Loring Park in downtown Minneapolis, one f the best city parks I've ever been to, I have so many summertime, live music memories from there. You are writing such a variety of great songs, you're on a roll and it's wonderful.
