FAWM 2026 means I've been doing this for about 20 years now.

Forced creativity is something I really believe in. It's something I use it in my profession and teach others about in coaching sessions. This challenge is an exceptional example of the power of a deadline and committing to something. So many people around the world making songwriting a priority in February. It's wonderful.

This year is a little different for me in that I realized a bigger challenge would be to take a little more time with songwriting. So when I got inspired in the fall I started writing. Part of the inspiration came from trying to write a second draft of a book I'm writing and deciding to explore the characters and situations through songwriting as a next step instead. So I'm continuing that work and approach with this challenge.

I'm so glad this community exists. We need an outlet and a supportive network for creativity more than ever.
