Evan Dando is (was?) the leader of the Lemonheads. He's known for his good looks as well as his prodigious intake of drugs.

My looks are nothing to write home about but you should see my shadow it's been lauded, applauded and celebrated decorated, appreciated and emulated

Even Dando had the opposite problem he's great looking but his shadow is not he grew jealous, envious and so Evan Dando stole my shadow

But it wouldn't behave and follow him and Evan found it frustrating plus he needed money for drugs so Evan Dando sold my shadow

To a shooting range where they lined him up as a target filled him with bullets and holes and made life hard for my shadow

But my shadow wouldn't go quietly so one night he stole a gun from the locker and returned fire on the shooters

Then it was time for revenge he escaped to exact vengeance on Evan Dando who sold him so he scolded him and threatened him with a gun and so Evan Dando brought my shadow home to me

I love this so much. I read the lyrics before the singing started. What a great story. The groove and guitarscape are fantastic. Love it! (A friend of mine works with John Strohm. My friend was regaling me with Evan Dando drug stories just a couple of months ago.)

yup strangely believable. you gotta great groove there- love that almost hiding back music. I am sure the drums are on drugs and are selling them to the bass

you pegged evan dando. he would steal your shadow, use it for awhile, then sell it for drugs. we used to tease him because he was recreating himself from a hip indy guy to a vacuous teen idol. i think he became a junkie to regain some street cred.

Great title and hilarious lyric. The narrative takes some twists and turns that made me laugh out loud and your vocal style to this is so funny. The music is great, those distorted drums and twangy guitar make a really cool rhythm, and I love the perfectly placed little bursts of feedback. Could be a great krauty instrumental too.

OMG what a showdown (or a shadowdown)! Have to look up Evan Dando. Great lyrics as always! Loving the bass and - ahhh- the chaosguitar comes in! Another winner! Congrats to the 14!
