Dogfight
Challenge: SAWTOOTH MELODYLiner Notes
This one took a little bit of doing, but it's done. Full disclosure some of the weird time signatures are not at all on purpose, just that I mis-counted the initial guitar track in a couple of spots and I didn't want to do it all over again, so I worked around it. Oh well. Wherever you go, there you are. Also, I'm not sure if it qualifies for this week's "sawtooth melody" challenge, but I will leave that up to FAWM to decide. Does the mistaken time signature make it prog? I suspect not. Hashtags anyway.

Lyrics
this pain it sits behind my rib this pain is sits directly behind my rib this pain it sits behind my rib
nothing goes to plan in a dogfight
there's blood running between my teeth there's blood running directly between my teeth there's blood running between my teeth
nothing goes to plan in a dogfight
it's black and blue around my eyes it's black and blue directly around my eyes it's black and blue around my eyes
nothing goes to plan in a dogfight
these bones they cut right through my skin these bones they cut directly through my skin these bones they cut right through my skin
nothing goes to plan in a dogfight

I really like how the music, lyrics, and time signature all work together to raise the tension in this song. Together they serve the theme perfectly. Great job!

Wow, I can hear this with a full band just rocking. It's heavy as an acoustic tune too. Love the harmonies.
The frenetic guitar makes for a great backing for the terse lyrics. Reminds me of Richard Thompson's darker stuff. I like the slightly deranged way you sing "nothing goes to plan."
That is quite a compliment! Thank you!!
Very cool. Big fan of the repetition in the verses. It really works well in this one. Love the jangly guitar textures too. But oh my word the chorus is fecking brilliant. Full of attitude and backed up by that gnarl vocal harmony cluster. Really, really effective.
Very original and interesting song. Great lyrics and images. Those harmonies really caught me off guard and got my attention, especially like the end where you go all chromatic and dissident! All the guitars work really well together. Cool echoey artifacts going on with the electric guitar.
oooh this is so catchy and edgy. the lyrics are great and the delivery of them is even better. i love the harmonies too! nice touch. great job, thanks for sharing!
Quiet intensity. Love the rhythmic nature of the whole thing, with the repetition building on itself as it goes. The time signature switches had me on my toes wondering what beat the dogfight would land on.
The tension running through this is excellent, it feels like you're inside someone's monologue, right after they got punched in the face. The guitar fills are a great treat and the harmonies are on point to bring the vibe. Super creative, amazing composition.
Very cinematic! Love when the harmony comes in. Really nice
