Liner Notes

Today's #MovieQuote is Margot Kidder's memorable reply to Christopher Reeve in Richard Donner's Superman (1978) when he tells her, "Don't worry, Miss. I've got you."

It's #prog as usual, and as it's in 6/8 I guess it qualifies as an #oddtimesignature song. It's good enough for me to post it, but for some reason I just couldn't take it where I thought it needed to go. I'm in a lot of pain, I'm dealing with a lot of stuff, and I'm so, so tired. I think I might take a break from recording for a few days.

Lyrics

The small town upbringing that shaped your soul Keeps you dreaming of impossible things Big city life will never take its toll On truth, or justice, or the death of kings

It's always been your plan To be a real-life Superman

You always want to save everybody That's what you do But when did you ever ask yourself Who's got you?

The daily news slowly driving you mad This stupid planet with its yellow star No consequences for the truly bad Yet you can't show just who you really are

I'm really grateful that you're still around It would be so easy to just let go With Lex Luthor running things into the ground You're needed now more than you'll ever know

"Who's got you?" is a great question everyone with a bit of a hero complex should ask themselves. And this is a lovely bit of tune to hang this clever lyric on.

The two part-ness of the chorus is great (including the little spidery synth sounds hah) Dig the drums and some really tasty fills in there. Just in general well done and the question of who saves the savers is a really good one for a song in general!

Great track, really like this style and your voice... defintely has a prog feel to it... hope you get well soon!

I hope you get well soon. This track is nice. Lots of drums but not overdone. The backing vocals fit so well. And I really like the instrumental parts. Although this is proggy it is catchy, too. Well done!

Thanks for your kind words on my "Try it".

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. And it's awfully good to hear you again! A lovely, dreamy groove you've got going here. Wonderful soundscape, thoughtful lyrics. Love it!

This is really good . It's got such a good flow to. It's almost pop at times Chris, whatever next! I love your vocal tone here, I really feel I'm being told a story. Nice.

"With Lex Luthor running things into the ground you're needed now more than you'll ever know" is a hell of a line, and says it all these days... Love what you've done here.

That last verse is so timely. Great production, and what a great idea for a song. Kudos.

A real choice quote - so simple but so much depth to develop. Stellar drum programming as well and that FM-y synth that bounces around is pure ear candy. Hope you get some much needed rest.

A really enjoyable listen here. Love the drum beat in the intro and throughout. What did you use for that? Lyrics are so relatable and well grounded in the character. Sorry you're in so much pain and feeling run down. I've had to pace myself as well... unfortunately.

Loving that bouncy bass/synth underneath the chorus. And as always very intrigued by the choice of movie quote. Such a cool concept for a collection of songs.
