Transformation

Skirmish: I CAN FEEL (@corinnecurcio)Liner Notes
This is also for the Finished It challenge since the melody has been in my "rough notes" folder for ages - recorded (with La La La lyrics) on the Recorder on my phone when the the muse offered me it in the street .
Instrument: Ortega Guitalele
Lyrics
INTRO: (Am) (F) (G) (Am)
(Am) I can feel it (F) coming My (C) bones are aching and my (G) toes have gone numb I (Am) know the first (F) symptoms It (G) happens every time - a consistent out(Am)come
CHORUS (F) No use trying to (C) stop it I've (G) tried and never pulled it (Am) off My (F) forehead I'm mopping, my (C) temperatures dropping The (G) transformation... (NC) is well under(Am) way
(Am) I can see the (F) changes A (C) subtle alteration in the (G) tone of my skin I (Am) sense the hairs (F) rising An (G) external sign - of what's happening within
CHORUS
(Am) I must seek out pro(F)tection They (C) mustn't know what I am (G) going through They'd (Am) probably (F) kill me What they (G) don't understand - they always (Am) eschew
CHORUS

REALLY like your vocal on this! Great job! ❤️
Nice to get one out of the folder! such pleasure in finishing it! Um must get the guitalele out! follow the signs where ever they lead
The other members of the Uke family don't get enough exposure. Along with the Guitalele, I have two 8 strings (a tenor and a baritone), plus a six string, which you can hear on some of the recordings I have done so far.
The melody is great – I'm glad it's finally found a home outside your folder. What a great take on the prompt – I like how it leaves a lot to the imagination and really piques the curiosity of the listener. Great stuff!
Thanks Marilisa. I don't usually leave the listener guessing. I am more a "Straight to the point" kind of guy. But at times I do like to let the listener decide what it going on.
Oooo…. I like this a lot … very cool melody and delivery. I love that you don’t explicitly tell us what you are transforming into and that it could be more literal, like as Bill notes, a werewolf, or more metaphorical, like an emotional transformation.
The temperature dropping made it less clear for the possibilities in my head as temps dropping limits…. But the forehead mopping to temperature dropping makes me think of gender affirming hormone therapies which sadly would align too well with the last stanza…
I am not saying what I imagined would emerge from the transformation! 😈
a werewolf? could be. could be something else. i like the ambiguity. it keeps the emphasis on transformation as a process, not an explicit change from one thing into another, or some kind of disintegration from self to non-self. bernie sings the song as if such a transformation is common, which takes me to the werewolf syndrome. i suppose one could get used to a once a month transformation.
The Transformation. I am not saying what I imagined would emerge from the transformation! 😈 I generally write straight to the point songs, but occasionally it's good to leave the listener guessing, eh?
I wasn't thinking of a werewolf, because our band already have a fun song about what the reality of being a werewolf must be like. We always sing it at gigs around Halloween (if we have any).
Check it out. It's on our first album. We're a lot tighter these days. https://open.spotify.com/artist/3xTyYt9Vh3DwXhAROiwZpd
I really like this! I have my own ideas about the meaning. Not sure, but I will keep it to digest. Really good.
Glad you liked it. Best kept a mystery, I guess.
I imagined a caterpillar, though the song really doesn’t say. Quite an adventurous song, in any case. I like the boisterous, cheerful melody to cover over the nerves of a change that can’t be stopped.
Oh, I never thought of that one. It would have to be a Karmic caterpillar who remembers his past transformations in other incarnations... BUT who kills butterflies other than those Victorian collectors? 😉😁
I really like the rhythm of the vocal line! And congratulations on following through on a rough note! This really sounds fun to sing despite the lyrics, LOL.
Glad the prompt enabled you to go beyond La Las! I like the non -specific lyrics and the snappy music
This is really cool. What a great opening line. I really like the chord progression too. And a little mysterious... a werewolf..?
