The link didn't work for me. I got a blank screen then a time out. โน BUT I then typed in the precis you included a couple of mails back and got the story. Fascinating.
Check out this video, "colin pitchfork story and alec jeffreys"
You won FAWM, congrats!
Thanks! A bit later than I normally do too ๐ I am not sure I will double my total this year though. I am taking FAWM more calmly and making time for my wife, who is also retired now. She was a FAWM Widow for too long in the past. ๐
... or maybe she FAWMs too! Just kidding that's relatable. Speaking Of FAWM widows... https://fawm.org/songs/322236
you neednt have worried about catching his tuberculosis. all the furniture in his room was burned, the idea of the song is that to be just as good as dylan is no excuse for not being as good, or better than keats. it is about our failure to live up to our heritage and more, to advance the arts rather than lower the standards.
I probably caught whatever was causing one of the attendant's hacking coughs. I had speculated that it was an act and added to the atmosphere ๐. I got the point you are making about failing to live up to our heritage, I remember our first exchanges where I thought I was praising you by making Dylan comparisons, but you didn't see it that way. ๐
our celebrations in ilo were never as crazy as this carnival appears to be. there was usually a bit of catholic oppresion hovering abovre the crowds. but in a small fishing village like ours, there was no outside entertainment being brought in, so we had to create our own entertainment. we had a nice little amphitheater though where a college drama group performed grease and a room in the library where a string quartet from arequipa performed one evening. but the main attraction fo rme was the street where we lived was right across the street from the beach and on every sunday people came from all around to play games in the streeet.
You know, Bernie, I actually played the bass string of the harp in my fatherโs laugh with a soft marimba mallet to get that sound! I heard recently that the harp was BANNED by Queen Victoria because it was an instrument of rebellion at the timeโฆthat made me REALLY want to add it to my arsenal of accordions and oddball instruments! One day Ireland will be a place I will go to soak in the culture and music, hopefully.
You'll love the land of my ancestors. The people, the landscapes and above all the music. But the architecture is a bit utilitarian in most towns and cities, so don't expect too much on that score.
Hey Bernie, Tx for reading and commenting on Where's the Christmas Cheer... You've piqued my interest with a possible dylanesque treatment... hmmm.... not sure I could pull it off but might give it a shot! It was a great prompt that opened "the channel," It was a fun write!
You'll never know until you try it ๐.
Here to say hello, Berni. Have a great FAWM!
Coming back at you!
The speed and sensitivity that you produce wonderful music always amazes me. Thank you for the wonderful collab on The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning. I love that you capture and amplify the feeling I was trying to convey so beautifully. Honored to have my first complete song with you!
Thanks, Liz. I am so glad you liked it. I was going to do it with an acoustic, but I picked up an electric and it seemed a better fit.
Hi Berni!! I would love it if you grabbed my Swedish song!!! Thank youโ and good to see you here!

You too, Charlei!
Welcome back! Glad to see you here, too!
Happy FAWM!! Iโm itching to get going
Me too and I'm keen to see which Matt is going to turn up this year. Have you gone through another metamorphosis? Will you be doing synth based electronics stuff this time around? Or something equally surprising? I'll just have to wait and see.
Going for gothic, 80s arena rock this year I think. Iโm feeling some heavy riffs and big choruses
Sounds interesting. But no screamed unintelligible vocals, perhaps?
Definitely not. I couldnโt do that style even if it interested me. It will be nice clean vocals I promise :)
Happy FAWM, Berni!
Same to you, Nadine. great to see you are back.
No, the random words were just for a starting point if you needed it. I didn't use the ones I generated ๐
