Fireflies and Frogs

Liner Notes
This started as a challenge to use only one synth and its onboard fx, but it expanded a little past that. Primary sounds were made using Equations: Graphing Calculator Synthesizer by Decent Samples, but otherwise the only other sounds/plugins I used were stock reverb and compression on the scratch vocal just to get it out without a lot of mix fuss.
I grew up in Wilmington, NC, and if you've spent any time around Greenfield lake in the evening you know how loud those frogs get!
Lyrics
Greenfield lake Smells of decay and of incense Waters dark Hide the things that you'll never see Cypress trees wear Spanish moss as robes
Fireflies The candles of the cathedral Sunset clouds Stained glass orange in the fading sky Lift your voice With choruses of frogs

Awww...it's over. I found that relaxing and meditation-inspiring. Good morning coffee music. 😀
Oh man, that's a great arrangement and an excellent feel. Great stuff!
amazing arrangement! the fact that you created synth patches that sounded like the topic of the piece is really neat. i can tell you put a lot of thought into your tracks. lovely vocal performance too, excited to hear more of your work :)
This absolutely sounds like fireflies and frogs. Such a cool bit of sound design with the synths. Gorgeous vocals in this. Really makes me think of a night by a pond.
I like the arrangement here, it does kind of evoke a peaceful evening scene. Except... frogs! There's something nice about hearing nature in the evening.
Thank you!! It kind of came about because one of the synth patches just sounded SO MUCH like frogs to me! I remember going down to that lake with my now-deceased brother as teens and the memories are so clear and happy, but there’s also the element of oppressive summer humidity and the lake that’s famously full of gators 🤣
This is really a special use of space and frogs. Frogs very much of the earth in space. You had me at the first arpeggiation, lovely poetry too.
I absolutely love that opening arpeggio. Such a mysterious sound. Your vocals are incredible. They sound almost ancient in a way. Hard to describe but really awesome. This is one of my favourite songs I have come across this FAWM!
This all comes together in a wild way. Takes me into your lakeside experience. I love the synth and you have a beautiful voice.
Very evocative. I get that you're doing a style thing with your vocals backed off, but I'd maybe get the vocals and synth a little closer in volume, because it obscures a bit for me anyway. (I know this is just the get a demo up stage, but thought I'd throw that out there. Love getting all these electronic things from you lately.
Thanks!!! I’ll keep that feedback in mind if I revisit it!
Oh this is a lovely listen!
Thank you!!!
I hear the frogs croaking! Really neat wandering vocal following the accompaniment in unison. There’s an air of curiosity to the whole track which is very wonder-ful
