Pancakes!

Liner Notes
Day 6 - Shrove Tuesday
The name of this band is Baghdad.
Full Disclosure - the music for this was improvised live to tape in a garage in Milton Keynes about a month ago. It was a lot of fun (possibly more than you will have listening to it!) I wrote the lyric yesterday and then recorded them today, Hope you don't mind that - i tried (in the mix and the post-session additions) to capture that sense of a live track. Inspired by Cuss Words, a band we saw together about 20 years ago and loved.
j$ - vocals, bass, live guitar Andy Balham - live drums, engineering.
Lyrics
Give me pancakes, Give me pancakes Yum yum in my tum, until I'm sick I would eat them every day; Im just a piggy bolshevik
Lent can relent, I'm going in greedy Don't believe in God, no, just good eating. Confession not needed, this is a freebie For the secular ones, no fast cheating.
God can not exist, ‘cos If he did, would he allow all this? A Ruined world about to break but I don't care if I get my pancakes
Give me pancakes, Give me pancakes Grab them piping hot right out of the cooker, Never mind the reasoning, I still just eat them If you can’t join them, why not get beating?
Not even a story, no myth to relay now Why no patron saint of pancakes? Call me naïve, call me gullible but How does this make lent palatable now?
A pancake tonight would be nice, alright! A pancake tonight would be nice x 2

Yeah, why don't they have a Parton saint? If I remember, St Lorenzo's symbol is a griddle. Maybe he would do? 🤔
Ok, this is making me laugh out loud! And I wan’t pancakes. Punk and pancakes together, a match made in…. heaven??
This is a real assault on the senses...
Pancakes - never referred to, of course, in the Bible. Probably a bit of a relief, really, as I don't like pancakes and hardly ever eat them.
"never referred to, of course, in the Bible." Another reason to eat them! :)
Dang, I wish I had some buttermilk. I would go make pancakes right now. Love it! The chorus is sweet. Tonight, yes. This morning, for sure. A pancake anytime would be more than fine. Is the Milton Keynes location important for understanding the song?
No, it's just where Andy lives now. Cheers!
Love it! Finishing a song in February is perfectly in the spirit of FAWM and glad of that because it meant we got to hear the fuzzy guitar joy of this track.
