Tally What'cha Done?
by @kosch
Liner Notes
An example of building myself into a corner - much to my consternation, it seems I only open and use Logic during FAWM, and usually forget everything I learned the year before.. So this was (and is) my official #fuc entry. 3 tracks of uke. My Kala Tenor - acoustic - std tuning My Magic Flea SB - electrified - std tuning Magic Flea SB - electric - tuned to open A7 for slide play
1 track frankenbass 1 track harmonica (but since, for some reason, I added a key change, I got to use 2 1 track bass melodica And I have been really wanting to try my hand at harmonies so: 1 track lead vocal 1 track harmony
But at some point I realized the structure was odd, but, oh well, too late. One of these days, I'll figure out how to mic the basement drum kit.
Lyric ended up pretty #dark , I guess - depending on where your mind goes with them.. #FolkyBlues
Lyrics
"Tally What'cha Done?" Tally wanted Momma come on down See what she done Tally wanted Momma come on down To the creek, to the creek
Tally done something wrong, But, she never was quite right Tally done something wrong..good Lord
She said, the boy, didn't treat her right, She said the boy started the fight Said, the boy, didn't treat her right, That day, that day Momma didn't know what to say It's what she would have done, in her day, So, Momma didn't have nothing to say That day, that day
Tally wanted Momma come on down See what she done Tally wanted Momma come on down To the creek, to the creek
Tally done something wrong, But, she never was quite right Tally done something wrong.. Oh Lord, it just ain't right.

Blues on a uke - certainly different. Love the laid back feel to it. Sweet harmonica and great doubled vocals
Thank you for listening!
Cool, bluesy vibes! I especially like the harmonica. I feel like I'm down in the Mississippi Delta!
Thank you! My mind kind of wandered to the same place..
I think this is great. Love the lyrics. I really like the multiple ukulele approach. Gives it a really cool sound and vibe. Nice Job.
Thank you! I figured if one uke is good, well, 3 ukes... haha Thanks for listening
I usually find the ukulele quite boring, but I loved this song. It's weird, but in a good way! The instrumentation is quite impressive! I really enjoyed what I heard!
I'm glad you enjoyed it - I wasn't sure I'd be able to stop adding instruments... hahaha
You're speakin' my language with this bluesy adventure. That's a heapin' helpin' of raw and deliciously great. Well put together.
Thank you!
This is the kind of song that Alan Lomax would have recorded for posterity way back when. I think your multitrack arrangement here was a great success. This song is both raucous and somewhat disturbing considering we don't find out what happened to the boy who started the fight. It's kind of like a horror movie where they leave everything to your imagination and that makes it so much scarier. I love your harmonica track too. Excellent work.
Appreciate the kind words (embarrassed to say I had to Google Lomax - but I love the thought that this song could have been an old rural field recording!)
This song is from the wrong side of the tracks. It's not gonna stab ya, but it could if you cause a fuss.
Hahahaha - I think you're picking up what I'm putting down! (And thanks for reminding me to break out a kazoo or two..)
All the ukes, yay! The slide uke is particularly pleasing. I like a dark ukulele song, it doesn't all have to be sunshine and rainbows...
Thank you - I really need to remember how much fun ukes are, and not only drag them out during FAWM,
Love this, feels like it'd be a great The Band song. I can easily imagine Levon singing the lead there and Rick Danko wailing away on those harmonies in the back
Thank you - I didn’t find The Band til they had broken up, but I sure do dig them!
Well, that was wild. But I appreciate wild!
Thanks - I like wild - it wasn't the original planned destination, as it was going to be a little 145 on an acoustic uke, but here we are! Well, it is FAWN, after all.
This was a delight. I especially appreciated the "It's what she would have done, in her day." Sometimes the best option is also the wrong option.
Thank you!
Oh, like the intro... definitely got the old timey bluesy thang going on...
Thanks for the listen!
Oh my. It just opens right up. I confess I bought Logic a few months ago and I still do almost everything in Garageband. I should learn. Great song! I'm getting Lou Reed from your voice.
