Nice to See You Again

Liner Notes

Finally! an upload.

Some years ago, @lhcisco started a thing where the first song is always called Nice to See You Again. I've been doing it ever since.

Once again, spent too much time on this, but I had all kinds of fun. I sang, and I played guitar, which I normally don't do.

Anyway, ONWARDS!

Lyrics

I've been watching this go down for too long Seems like no one else can see this is wrong It's not looking good for me 'Cause I don't know how to bend the knee And oh, it's hard to carry on

So nice to see you again And happy birthday for the ones I missed, my friend Now there is hope Thing I can cope better You and me together Heyo, let's go! Get up again

Take my hand, let's see how far we get Doing pretty good, nobody's shot us yet I know there's more of us, you'll see Come and join us and we'll be unstoppable Let's go! Stand together again

So nice to see all of you again Don't be scared, there's more of us, my friends On your left, Cap Look who we've got Oh damn! That is a lot of people Heyo, let's go! March together again.

Let's tell 'em stop. No.

@lowhum

Yeah, great uplift, like the production with little things coming out stereo and some nice harmonies in critical places. and nice touch with distorted vocals

Your voice is wonderful, and I love the idea of having a "nice to see you again" song! Also, what a lovely touch the percussive aspects are and backing vocals, all around a really awesome full production!

[pic]

You're very kind. I'm a fan of your voice, too. You're probably inundated with requests, but let me know if you feel like a collab. Them pipes is HOT.

[pic]

Here he is! That's a nice non-electronic intro you've built there. I like the slow introduction of more elements in the percussion. The "Take my hand" part is lots of fun, and I enjoy how you've leaned into the cheese (so to speak). Those big distorted guitars with the solo is class.

[pic]

So catchy, upbeat, energetic, inviting and fun. Brilliant song, singing and playing. Love it. Great dance vibes.

[pic]

Lovely hummed harmonies on the intro and I really like how it gradually builds until the drums kick in. Love the low ba-ba-boms - like a modern day, jaunty Ink Spots! Also, guitar?! Love it!

[pic]

Damn your lower register is so rich and warm, always love when you strip it back and let those vocals shine. Good vibes all over this, another inspiring FAWM community anthem! Wasn't expecting that all out rock ending, but then again you always know how to flip a tune to somewhere new and interesting.

[pic]

Lovveeee what you're doing harmonically just before the "Let's go!" lines. And awesome rock breakdown. Great listen

[pic]

Too much time on it? Oh no. Time well spent my friend.

[pic]

Nicely done, this is such catchy little fun number. I absolutely love all the percussive elements and your voice sounds so sickly sweet, I can't get enough! The explosive ending was a pleasant surprise, the distorted vocals worked so well.

Nice start, and I love your tradition.

[pic]

I'm seeing game trailer footage when I close my eyes and listen to this. Extremely entertaining variety in the vocal takes and the punchy end comes just the right amount out of nowhere.

[pic]

love the vocal work here! you have a great tone in your chest voice, nice to hear. must admit i was not expecting the groove of the track ( not in a bad way) I just expected a less happy sounding thing! the "no stop lets go" section is a really great contrast! good job here

[pic]

Excellent build, my friend. Love the hum army, particularly that one line that hops up into the high register. We've banned protests down here, but love the sentiment. Is this the first time I'd almost be able to guess your continent from the sound of your music?

Everything about this is cool! I really like the lyrics, and the build up is well done.

[pic]

What a sweet but not to sweet Welcome Back to FAWM song that works just as well for anyone else in the world. That build is something. Wow!

[pic]

Cool. AF. Too much fun dude.

[pic]

ugh.. I want your vocal chain.... now! lol... so good. what an anthem!

[pic]

It's literally just a sympathetic mic.

Rode NT1, straight into the el cheapo M-Audio interface. After that, built-in EQ and compression that comes with FL Studio. I use the tools I have.

No secrets. After that, it's just layering.

EDIT: oh, and pitch correction, of course. Ahem.

[pic]

So many surprises packed in a 2:45 minute song. I like how it builds and builds into the final massive vocal stack and guitar. This line hits: Doing pretty good, nobody's shot us yet. As always, the production is some of the best.

[pic]

Mmmm that chord change on the third phrase of the verse. That's the stuff, man. b6 is where it's at

[pic]

Sounds so great! Nice to hear you again.

[pic]

The bobby mcferrin meets… i dunno, imagine dragons?… was super unexpected! Nice to hear ya and in a shock to no one the production is immaculate.

[pic]

Cool percussion. Your vocal sounds terrific and the mix is so very well done. Great work!

[pic]

i like that percussion. how are you making it? the doo wop in the background is also a pleasure. altogether, a very interesting and enjoyable arrangement and production.

[pic]

Hey @billwhite51. Thanks for the feedback.

The percussion is me tapping on the body of an accoustic guitar, and then later using one of the preset kits in FL Studio for the "live" drum samples. Use what's to hand, basically.

[pic]

Amazing! Nice to hear you again. I love the percussion beats. So many beautiful layers. The guitar ending made me feel the conflict present when marchers get to their destination.

[pic]

awesome tune! composition, arrangement, mix are all really on point.

@mace66

It was worth the wait, you can hear the effort that has gone into the arrangement - loving the harmonies, hums and other vocal trickery.

@leepat

Yes! (all kinds of fun!) and no (not shot yet), so yes - good to see you again. And, really, you should do more of this guitar swinging, voice singing, internal rhyme flinging thing...
