Light Up The Sky

Liner Notes
I had a clear idea that the first song on the album should start small and provide a springboard to all that follows.
Spent way too much time on it and still played it wrong in places, but happy with the song and would say the recording is an 8/10 (for me).
Recorded using Zoom R8 digital 8 track. Drums are inbuilt and sequenced. (Just found out how to do that after 10+ years of owning the Zoom!)
Lyrics
Light Up The Sky
You always hated the darkness You always hated the darkness You kept your curtains wide Your curtains wide at night
You always hated the darkness You always hated the darkness Watched for stars Stars up In the sky
Now I don't feel the cold these days Like you don't fear the dark And I don't wish some other life And you don't want the part That you've been given
Light up the sky

This might start small, for sureābut it unfolds beautifully and it keeps on growing and growing. Love that shift at 1:05 and the tremelo guitar has a sweet tone to it. Sudden ending calls out for a resolution, so it's perfect as an opening track.
The recording is very good. In fact I was hoping for more than the two minutes. Nice job.
This song positively soars! Great lyric and an emotional performance.
Bruh. Again with a seriously kick ass tune! Really great. Thank you!
The string synths over the pacing keys in the chorus are really musically effective and complement the lyrics. The good thing about FAWM is that things don't need to be perfect...that's what I try to remind my perfectionist self anyways. The point is to just get it out there :) Thanks for sharing this one with us!
as yes the joy of discovering new stuff on things you own! Oh nice strings there and piano, love the pan phase. Nice build to this song. Seriously the amount of superb tracks on FAWM that really should be out there, as it puts some of the mainstream music to shame! Just not as interesting as independent music made here and elsewhere. Fantastic track, i liked it a lot.
really dig the textures you created with different instrumentation, it leaves a lot of space for the vocal. a simple lyric floats nicely on the track - great work
I would happily listen to a much longer version of this. However this compact piece is beautiful. I like how it develops, how its orchestrated and how you sing it.
