Internal Bleeding
by @bethkille
Liner Notes
This one kinda came outta nowhere - just started strumming a chord progression on my guitar and singing over the top "stream of consciousness" style.
Lyrics
Capo 5 guitar chords: Am Em G F //Am Em G G Piano chords: Dm Am C Bb // Dm Am C C
Verse 1 You seep into my head At the least convenient times Like a dripping faucet in the night If I keep myself moving And my mind occupied I can pretend I’ve no regrets and fake a smile
Chorus Ooohhh this aching lingers Self deprecating thoughts keep repeating Ooohh these surface wounds have healed But there’s still internal bleeding there's still internal bleeding
Verse 2 There’s a sick injustice To the depth of pain I feel From this tiny sliver Stuck beneath my skin & I’d like to think that someday it’ll work it’s way out But it might require digging deeper in
Ooohhh this aching lingers Self deprecating thoughts keep repeating Ooohh these surface wounds have healed But there’s still internal bleeding
Solo
repeat chorus

Your stream of consciousness lyrics are better than my best thought-out ones! I enjoy the subdued vibe of the arrangement. Vocal harmonies are quite nice too.
Superb lyric, just overall great feel and the melody and phrasing with the simple guitar + piano backing works very well.
This one’s a keeper! Gorgeous and haunting. The sliver metaphor is particularly good - “might require digging further in” - ooof how true.
Very thoughtful message here, Beth! Keep this one and build it up so you can power it out as part your performance repetoire! Song needs to be heard!
Nice! Excellent harmonies. Also, because of these darker lyrics I kinda wanna hear this done Metallica style. :) \m/
Ouch! You convey a nagging lingering pain so well - I like surface wounds have healed/internal bleeding…. Your images are vivid. The sliver metaphor is great - not always fun to dig deep but sometimes it is the only way…. Fantastic vocal delivery and love the keys.
Hard to believe that this was stream of consciousness rather than hard fought over lyrics. Flows together really well. The piano is particularly nice.
Nice metaphors. Nice voice and instrumentation. I like this a lot.
Wow, beautiful and thoughtful stream for sure. You continue to amaze.
