Too Little Too Late

Liner Notes

Dan: This is a beautiful piano improvisation from @hbusse and I couldn’t resist trying to sing something with lots of reverb over it. The lyrics are a stream of consciousness and fell out of me, as did the melody and it all came together quite quickly in the end. I’ve added a subtle cello to pick the middle up a touch but this really is all about the piano.

Lyrics

Too little too late, Too much too soon, You stop me like stop signs, Need time to unwind, Take off then take time, Take yours but don’t take mine. You could stall for time, Hide behind headlines, Sunglasses shield tired eyes

A sixpence to stop on, Move me then move on, Get me then get gone.

Too little too late, Too much too soon.

Wow I have chills! I listened to the original the other day and was mightily impressed, and the addition of vocals makes it just take off. Beautiful all around, with the mournful lyrics echoing the pensive keys. I absolutely love it

@oswlek

This is outstanding. The piano is lush and captivating. So much beauty and drama. Those high notes sing so beautifully

Stellar vocal. You nailed the feeling and left me immersed in it. Gorgeous harmonies and the lyrics are better than I can write with a week to form and polish. That was stream of consciousness? Crazy.

My only complaint is that it is too short! I hope you guys connect and fully flesh this out at some point. The song deserves it. 🙂

This is really, really nice. I was thinking it sounded Coldplay (the good parts) but @leah0k's suggestion of Counting Crows is much more accurate. The sparseness of it is lovely but the piano keeps it driving. Love it! ❤️

Oooh you should do this style vocals more often I really love it- so compelling and just gorgeous!! You have such a beautiful voice ! The undulating piano underneath is the perfect accompany for the emotional vocals. I would totally buy this record ♥️

Love all of this. Beautiful start with the piano, beautiful when the vocals come in initially, and beautiful harmony. The vocals sound perfectly vulnerable. Even though it was composed asynchronously, it sounds like you wrote it together in the same room.

Oh wow, this is the first collaboration I'm listening on here, I joined just now. And I'm baffled how beautiful this is. Thank you.

Of COURSE I love the piano, and you really have "dressed it up" with those lovely vocals. Great collaboration!! ❤️

Thanks Jerry! It was so lovely of Dan to offer this collab, isn’t it beautiful what he’s done?

Yesss! Loved the original instrumental, but this makes it into a stone cold classic song

Oh my, this is exquisite. I heard the piano only version earlier which I also loved, but this has taken it to the next level.. your voice is so pure and vulnerable here, it really makes me feel something listening. I felt very emotional despite not knowing what the lyrics are about, which I think means you nailed it!

It’s gorgeous isn’t it? Bravo to @majordanby 👏

Beautifully (might I say eerie) piano melody, paired with such a wonderfully uplifting melody! Enjoyed listening to every bit of this! Thank you for gracing my ears with such goodness!

This is very sensual. Great contribution from both of you here. I love the lyrics that are specific and spacious. The sixpence line is so good. Congrats on a great collab.
