Angry Cow
by @edwinb
Liner Notes
I turned the radio on earlier today and it was in the middle of a news item and the first thing I heard was the phrase "Chased by an angry cow". I've no idea what the context of the story was, or anything else about it, because I immediately thought, "If that's not my #cowcore song I don't know what is."
Thank you to the cow chorus I found by searching pixabay for free cow samples (https://pixabay.com/sound-effects/search/cow/). There's also lots of cowbell fun, of course, and a clack-badoing (some call it a vibraslap, but not me because I am a pro.)
I apologise in advance. It is thankfully quite short, but maybe not quite short enough.
Lyrics
The summer breeze is blowing The sun peeks through the clouds A gently flowing river Creates a calming sound There's a tractor in the distance Pulling on a plough
And a man on the run in the middle of the field Chased by an angry cow
(cowbell solo 1)
There's a man on the run in the middle of the field Chased by an angry cow
Ramblers take pictures from An overlooking hill Of the wheels the river's turning As it flows beside the mill The birds as they are resting In a line along the bough
And a man up a tree in the middle of the field Chased by an angry cow
(cowbell solo 2)
There's a man up a tree in the middle of the field Chased by an angry cow

Masterful clack-badoing, and the cowbell part is delivered with gusto!
For one of my first FAWMs I was inspired by something a caller said on the radio while on my way to school drop off. It’s funny what can randomly trigger a song writing fit when your antennas are always on - figuratively and literally, in our cases. This hilarious song was a welcome touch of levity in my otherwise very dull workday. Thanks !
What a silly, brilliant song! I'd love to find out the original context, but hilarious without it!
I love how fun this song is and I didn’t want it to be over. It’s got a lot of gusto and is blatantly goofy. Not to be disrespectful, if taken that way, but this would be a really awesome children’s song. As the world listens on to your tune, and tries to sing a long somehow There’s a man on the run in the middle of the field, chased by an angry cow
The melody is embedded in my skull, so catchy.
I think it is essentially impossible to be disrespectful on a song like this. Is is, fundamentally, silly :). But also so much fun to put together! Thanks!
Top clack-badoinging – have you been taking extra lessons on the sly?
I love how all of this is not even trying to pretend to take itself seriously. Pure joy. Moo.
LOVE this! Wonderful cowcore! The cow sounds add, but you let that cowbell shine - as it should. I'm laughing over here. Thanks for creating a cowcore.
when i saw the title i just wanted to say MOOOOOOOOOOO. Hard to beat a country scene to deliver this kind of song! my first cowcore for 2026
Vibraslap entrance 100% correct, as are the cow-sound interludes, and that 8-string sounds lovely. And to think, if you hadn't turned the radio on at that exact moment, this song wouldn't exist! Perish the thought, more cowcore please
I think of this as Cowcore v2.0. Excellent cowbell break and cow moo's. I don't know if this genre can surpass this point.
Oh, the vibraslap is perfect! cowcore at it's best, imo. If ever you perform this and I'm around I wanna be on vibraslap! (and whatever else you need!)
The cow break down was excellent. This would be great fun to sit in a lawn chair and watch.
Fun tune. I almost havin' a Cow Man! Love the Clack-badoing, cowbell and all the Moo's.
I’d like to think that the other cows who are mooing are cheering along their angry friend with the baubles of the percussion. I think this is the perfect folksy style to write a song about the “man chased by cow” breaking moos 🙃
I can so relate to that. I worked in the Ag Business for a few years and have been chased. The image of the man in the tree is hilarious...and we have bells in a song. Well done and congrats on being a winner.
