Talking in her Sleep

#acoustic #singersongwriter #dreampop Just had this idea over the weekend after hearing my spouse murmur some unintelligible words in her sleep. Wrote down the title, and just made up the story of the insecure man worrying about imagined infidelity. Just a story, all is well... i'm fine, really..
Lyrics
She was talking in her sleep He listened closely in the sheets She muttered lightly through her slumber She was calling out the name of someone
It was Not his name, but someone new He couldn’t quite hear her so he wondered who Could occupy her mind this way He wondered if this name would stay
Refrain She was talking in her sleep she cant stop talking in her sleep oooh Its just a dream oooh Its just a dream
Morning came and he kept quiet Wondered if she would deny it he decided that he should not say but it bothered him all through that day
He began to dread the night he wanted to avoid the fight he prayed that he would be first to sleep but sure enough he heard her speak

We can't explain what comes from the subconscious when we dream. She may have been thinking about a childhood friend or maybe a pet. Regardless, you used a seldom discussed topic and turned it into a really good song. Your vocals and the guitar give a haunting dreamy sort of feel. Nicely done!
Who knows what all comes up when we're dreaming. Probably a good thing most of us are able to keep our mouths shut! Cool subject and great playing and singing on this. Your recording sounds so clear too. Really like the last two lines. Poor guy. Like a previous poster said, you could really take this either way depending on your delivery.
Something about the combination of your gentle vocals and the jingly finger picking replicates that middle of the night tranquility. The story is a little bit more unsettling but is still a lovely little story.
Nice storytelling on this and that repetitive guitar part works really well against the gentle vocals.
Nicely done! I like the chord progression and how the 2nd refrain is slightly different. And the concept is clever, as it can be tongue in cheek or serious!
Great concept and story telling, you have the ability to get out of your own life and write some meaningful stories about other situations. Your voice and guitar gently glide through this one and I gotta say, I love the reverb you use on this!
