Ducks in a Row

#BadSongClub prompt: Ducks in a Row! Written in about 30 minutes - recorded in about 2 hours. π Had this silly song initial direction that morphed into something more serious. Thanks @carleybaer for the prompt!
Lyrics
Ducks away - we make it through In that way - we feel it too A wish to where the sky turns blue Row and tow - we make it through
(Ducks in a row / Ducks in a column)
If we pile them high, sigh, we're screwed Where sun shines bright, eyesight skewed Or this way - or that way - they tumble too Our heads a bullseye at this latitude
If we lay the line - two by two All along the ground - sound and true The ducks don't dodge our focused mood When they see us, we don't lose
(Ducks in a row / Ducks in a column)
Never stack your ducks too high You're sure to lose them in the sky Row them out on the ground So that they can always be found
But if you panic, shake, or scream Know that we all have this dream They'll try to get out of control Keep your ducks in a row
Ducks away - we make it through In that way - we feel it too A wish to where the sky turns blue Row and tow - we make it through
(Ducks in a row / Ducks in a column)

Thanks, brother. It was a fun and quick write. Happy it landed for you.
This is such a clever interpretation of the writing prompt. I will never hear the expression βducks in a rowβ the same way again. Wonderful vocal and guitar performance, with hints of Lindsey Buckingham. My favorite verse is the one including βpanic, shake or screamβ. Really nice.
Oh, that's such a great compliment - when art alters your perception of something. ::Drops mic:: Thanks for listening!
"Never stack your ducks too high" is the advice I never knew I needed. I love this, especially when the vocals split. And I see what you mean about starting silly and then accidentally uncovering a deeper meaning. This is a keeper!
Yes, Carley - keep those ducks low to the ground! Thanks for your inspiration and prompts. They've really been helping me open up the creativity faucet with less friction. π€π½
Ducks in a column, lol! What a funny way to play with the saying, that is totally my sense of humor. Love this playful tune.

Aw, thanks. Yes - but be careful stacking your ducks like that! π
Now mentally rearranging ducks as I knit and listen. grins This has a They Might Be Giants vibe to it. I love the energy of the guitar and the doubling in the voice of the vocals! Are there different takes of the vocals on different tracks or did you use an effect? Or both? Anyway, it works!
It was different takes on the vocals - sometimes it works well. I particularly like when they are slightly a bit off - it gives a human dimension. There may be a some delay on one of the tracks as well. AND YES....TMBG! I'll take it. Thanks!

You got it right, @trashmilk. Bravo.
What a fun take on this prompt!
Totally fun. I love #badsongmonday.
Very nice and tuneful adaptation of the prompt. This is great, Michael and the message, though subtle is most certainly there.
Thanks, Mike. I definitely want to re-write and make it a bit more specific. π€π½
"Ducks in a column" says it all. And such a catchy hook. You really capture something a lot of us feel, and in a fun and wise way. Your performance is knowing and heartfelt. You got yourself a hit here.
