Pushing Ahead

Liner Notes
This is the song that I was going to start with, but it ended up sounding much different than I expected. I just never know what a song will end up sounding like, but that is really the beauty of FAWM. I was thinking about adding some other things, like synth or guitar with a leslie speaker, but I just figured that the song was there--so....Here you go..... This one was really written on a classical guitar and sounded much more jazzy, but I like the way that it turned out. I always have a tendency to use a lot of chords, which this one is an example of. I don't know the theory, but I just figure out what sounds good to me. I USED A CAJON! Thanks @zecoop! We gave each other a challenge this year, so I have done my part using the cajon that he gave me. He has to use a model D synth now for his part of the challenge....Watch for it! As you can imagine, the title has a lot to do with the passing of my father, @srcoops a week ago. Pushing forward with support, with life, with all of the things. Anyway, I have been SO grateful again for how our family just is together. I was going to say comes together, but we are already like that. I used a Tokai acoustic, Hofner 500/6, a cajon, congas (new to me this year!), some percussion, and my drums. #acoustic #liveinstruments #cajon #needsvocals

No, but my wife might want it! I am okay with multiple collabs, so that may not be an issue. Just check with me first. Thanks!

This sounds so full. And I get a comforting feel from this, like a strong, reassuring arm around the shoulders that's not pulling too tight, just enough to know it's there if I needed. And a feeling of optimism in the face of a daunting task as well. Hard to explain but good.
Oohhhh...very nice 70s feel to this. And that might be just my ears influenced because of my current Sirius XM setting of 70s tune. Nevertheless, I like this. Good little mix happening and I could hear the bass pretty good. I tend to listen for frequencies more closely to get a better mix perspective. Did you have anything specific in mind regarding vocals? Lyrics?
I love it, what a great vibe with that Cajón! You left room in just the right moments, a great mix of tones and styles here. One of my favorites I have heard from you... and the liner notes have a beauty of their own, too. Excellent!
yeah, this sounds right - keep the synth/leslie inspiration for another track! can't wait to hear that.
I'm so sorry to hear about your father - I saw him mentioned in the remembrance forum thread, and was taken aback. Condolences all round. Far out, what a world.
Vocals would be interesting - lot of options I think. Will be a fun result. Real nice flow - sorta sounds summery - maybe springy. guitar strumming kinda makes you want to do a busy slow dance. Production is nice - only thing maybe is give the bass a little more roundness - on my headphones I didn't notice the bass until near the second half - almost like it was hiding in a narrow freq range. otherwise, sounds so great - the room sounds comfortable - sitting around listening vibe. chill energy!
Well thank you very much! I appreciate your support and kind thoughts.
This sounds so good, I love those chords. Seems like something that could fit right in on a classic record from the 70s! Sorry for your loss.
Thank you for listening and offering your support! I appreciate it very much
Such a lively song! All the percussion give so much space. Doubled guitar is perfect. I noticed a lot of chord work and that’s what you mentioned in the description, haha
Yeah I am just a chord loving guy. I really do try to be more simple at times, but then other occasions I just let myself go and be chordy. Thanks for the listen!
I love how you transition the percussion in and out!
Thank you! I am a drummer first so I try to have fun with it! I appreciate you for listening!
This totally sounds like a lost Joni Mitchell song to me! Really nice mellow groove, and I like the combo of the hand drums and acoustic guitar. The parts where it kind of picks up and gets a little more rocking are a great changeup too.
Well thank you very much owl! I appreciate you listening and supporting!
Warm and wonderful. So much human touch in all the instruments and that leads the song in a very positive and encouraging direction. Fun to hear all the percussion! Completely satisfying!!
Well thank you! The timing is weird but it’s a FAWM demo….
So sorry about SrCoops. But I'm so glad you've all got such a great support system in each other. Totally dug this song. Even if this wasn't what you got to start with it's still here and sounds fantastic.
Hey thanks for stopping by and listening/supporting. I really appreciate it. Yes, we definitely have a strong support network in our family.
I’m sorry to read about your father’s passing, my sincere condolences 💚 I enjoy the warm guitar and the bass. Aux percussion adds a tasty touch
Thank you very much for listening and for your support! It is very appreciated.
A really groovy song. I enjoyed this very much.
I also don’t really know the theory and go with what I like the sound of.
Ha! I will probably never know the theory, so I guess we just move along with what sounds good to us!
I’m loving the vibe on this! The chords are so welcoming and open, with a breezy feel. Nice rhythms happening as well!
Hey there, thanks for listening! It’s a bit rough but the idea is there. I appreciate it!

Mine rarely follow written/started order. I’m glad you are plugging on SR would be proud I am sure. That seems like a lot of chords to me! Well done. Nice solid piece, moves along enough to stay very interesting.
Came here from your brother’s page. Left a note with my deepest sympathies to you and your family. I can relate as my mom died January 29th last year and I found FAWM a welcome distraction.
Nice song. Everything sounds terrific and well recorded to my ear. Nice playing and a joyful vibe! Wishing you a wonderful FAWM!
Thank you very much for listening and supporting! I am grateful!
First off, so sorry about your dad. It's so nice to know how close your family is and how grateful you all seem to be. My condolences to you all...
I read your profile page and saw that you wanted to focus on mic'ing and mixing. I kind have the same goals but I'm feeling like I've got way more to learn than you. The acoustic here sounds great. The bit at :20 and 1:20 with the picked acoustic notes sounds killer. You are getting a big sound out of the acoustic in general. Congos were a good purchase. They add a lot. Nice little shaker and of course the Cajon. Overall a very enjoyable. Glad I stopped by...
Thank you @richaaaay ! I really appreciate your support and giving a listen!
I am cruising down the road with the AM radio on and the windows open and this song just came on the radio and I am turning it up and enjoying the ride.
That's the vibe it creates for me.
