05: The Balloon Buzz

Liner Notes

As mentioned in my bio, I started FAWM last week as I will be traveling for most of the month and I wanted to prep some videos and upload them before I hit the road. This is the last of head start and I'll be adding additional tracks when I can.

The Balloon Buzz is taken from episode one of Tales from The Wizard of Oz. A trippy cartoon that aired on lunchtime television when I was a kid.

This segment is representative of many of the storylines with Dorothy trying to get back to Kansas and the Wizard of Oz failing misreably time and time again. Another common theme is interference from the Wicked Witch of the West. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tales_of_the_Wizard_of_Oz

Drop that astral funk beat! That is a trippy cartoon! Nice listen all around. The slight dynamic changes and underlying synth keeps it both interesting, pleasant and relaxing too.

I love it. Such a chaotic vibe, even though it's musically tight. Never knew what was coming next, but I sure enjoyed it. 😀 Seems like a very trippy cartoon indeed.

Glad you liked it. The same company did a number of seasonal tv specials like Frosty the Snowman in the 60’s and 70’s and a particularly strange animated series The New Adventures which I also watched as a kid.

I came here from comments I have seen you leave on other fawmers' pages. I did not know what to expect. I am still not sure I know what to expect. But that is a great thing! You have managed to create stuff that is weird in the weirdest way possible but also highly listenable. Cool!!

Thanks Nancy, glad you liked it. A comment from @djtjb prompted me to look more into Rankin/Bass studio and I learned that they did The New Adventures of Pinocchio which I also watched as kid. And many of the seasonal tv specials like Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.

The visuals really match the tone of the track. I feel like I went on a journey here haha. Great stuff! Also had no idea there was a Wizard of Oz cartoon, nice!
