Lyrics

capo 1 hey i know you it's been a minute hey did you know this is true? You're a diamond with a rainbow in it

like a prism (excuse the symbolism) spreading colour everywhere that you go what beautiful shades to throw just look at them flow oh oh oh all part of the show more than you'll ever know

hey look at you now a ray of sunshine you haven't got a clue how how your laughter lands the punchline

the world is better for (excuse the metaphor) your light that sets the night aglow what a beautiful light to throw just look at it flow oh oh oh all part of the show more than you'll ever know

you have an energy (Scuse the analogy) of the fall of a domino racing and chasing the flow watch it go oh oh oh all part of the show more than you'll ever know

I love the build from, "just look at them" to "flow" is gorgeous - chords and melody give me chills in that line. We need this kind of positivity in the world right now - recognizing the good in others. Really lovely song.

[pic]

thank you so much

[pic]

Lol at the "better for/metaphor" rhyme. This is beyond charming and I love how you use the rhymes to propel the song forward and the conversational feel of the vocals. This song feels like a hug should, familiar, comfortable, and welcome.

@oswlek

This is terrific, Wobbie. It has all usual charm and wit that make your songs yours. I really like the varying line lengths and the free-form feel it gave to the piece. The parenthetical lines were just brilliant (prism and symbolism was particularly delightful!) Great use of minor and major switching in the chorus.

The world is a better place with your light in it, Wobbie. Great stuff.

[pic]

of the fall of a domino racing and chasing the flow There is a certain hypnotism that happens watching dominos falling so mathematically-much like shuffling cards-at least to me. Prisms refractions and their effect on our perspective. Beautiful tune!

[pic]

Beautiful lyrics!

[pic]

This is magical. How did you fit all of that melodic bliss and (excuse the praise) lyrical awesomeness in there under 2 minutes?

[pic]

thank you so much (excuse the gratitude) very kind.

[pic]

Now I've read this is inspired by the quality audience member... What lovely tribute! And so true. Prism and symbolism will stay with me forever.

[pic]

thank you!

[pic]

All my favorite things! Under 2 minutes, one take, satisfying chord changes and a sweet authentic vocal and melody!

[pic]

thank you!

[pic]

Your voice is really genuine and tender. I like the quick wit, poignancy, and really kind nature of your lyrics here so much. I'm excited to hear more!!

[pic]

thank you so much!

[pic]

Well done as always mate!

[pic]

thanks

[pic]

This is so touching, Wobbie. The lyrics have the signature Wobbie mastery of the craft and a special sort of cleverness, but here it also comes with a level of tender heartedness that the music matches so very nicely. I dearly love every one of your songs I've heard and no exception here.

[pic]

Instant Classic! Love the whole vibe. Cheers

[pic]

Hey, Wobbie - not sure how it took me three days to get here to hear you. This is so sweet and delightful. The tenderness makes me imagine it is the song you were writing for Lilly at Christmas. (And there’s the other level of meaning for me this week from having water flow unimpeded through floors and ceilings for a few days.) More please!

[pic]

thank you, not the Lilly song, a song for The Punters (our stalwart trio of audience members at Ramshackle (open mic), and also FAWMers and in general The Audience Member who doesn't realise how much they contribute to the performance. hope you get your flood cleaned up soon!

[pic]

This is the kind of music that AI will never be able to create - Loved it - so effortless and quirky. Great job; this is the first song I have used the "bookmark" symbol on so hopefully I will be able to listen to it in the future

[pic]

I have to say that I enjoyed every second of this track and far more than many 'well-produced' and 'multi-layered' tracks I've heard elsewhere and yes, there's room for all but how can you not love a song that rhymes 'prism' with 'symbolism', I mean come on?

[pic]
@val

Ahhhhh, you are so clever. Love the parenthetical lines. They add humor to these sweet and wonderful lyrics. I can only imagine hearing you playing this live and having to stop to play close attention to it, because I love it so much.

[pic]

Aaaaaaaw, I love this! What a beautiful and clever song, it's heartfelt and sweet. I adore the "excuses" in each stanza, the rhythm of the words, but what it makes it special is the feeling it evokes — loving and admiring someone special. ❤️

(Downloading this one for later, if you don't mind!)

[pic]

One of the things I love about your songs is how you make them so conversational and personal. I love the little asides like, in this case, "(excuse te symbolism)/(scuse the analogy)", and when it's and gentle and heartfelt a lyric as this one that personalisation hits home all the harder. You're a great human communicator, and this is a lovely song.

[pic]
@janeg

Lovely autobiographical song! You are so good at songs that give me joy.

[pic]

Hi Wobbie, a wonderful start to FAWM, you really are a diamond with a rainbow in it. More of this sort of thing please!

[pic]
@clare

Sniff sniff tears...so lovely. You're our diamond and you spread so many beautiful rainbows

[pic]

aw thanks and good to see you! you will have to write a song now you're here :)

[pic]

If Tracey Ullman ever decides to do another album, this would be a natural fit for it. Your gift for wordplay and metaphor would suit her down to the ground.

[pic]

This is absolutely delightful. Love the gentle bounce of the guitar. Great first song!

[pic]

I love your images (and the excuses) and how you set the words in with inside rhymes and hidden rhythms. Way to go, Wobbie! So good to hear your new writing, and I'm looking forward to a month of more songs!

[pic]

A tear in the eye here, and the other eye. Lovely song. I don't know who it's about for you but I know who it is for me.

[pic]

Ah Wobbie, it is so great to read your amazing writing and then listen to your beautiful song. What you’ve done here is 1. A keeper and 2. Something that I will only be able to admire, rather than do myself. Fabulous!

[pic]

I love 'you have an energy of the fall of a domino'...Nice one x

[pic]

Love the lyrics. Site seem to be stalling on being able to listen to it - hope I can come back later and hear the song! But really looking forward to it. EDIT: Love the performance. Keep on rocking!

[pic]

This is wonderful! It has that mid to late 1960’s pop energy and great phrasing and melody choices. Excellent!! And uplifting!

[pic]

You are a pro...Such a joyful and uplifting flowing song. I love that it was inspired by real people and that they teared up upon hearing the song. That's so touching...Brilliant work.

[pic]

aww thank you :)

[pic]

Gorgeous song, singing and playing. I think it's my favourite of yours. Very moving, sincere, catchy, melodious and instantly likable. So moving. Love it. Kudos!

[pic]

thank you so much Nadia!

[pic]

Lovely is also a word that came to mind for me, beautiful, sweet, affecting - indeed with a lovely flow of its own! But I wondered why you were asking us/the subject of the song whoever they are to excuse the metaphor as a refrain - seemed over-apologetic and I hate it when people tell me to stop apologising! Great to hear you here and to see your name (showbiz name?) first off! 😀

[pic]

was a little device i picked up on while writing that sort of led to the shape of the song. I quite liked the awkward asides at the OTT metaphors. thanks for listening and good to see you! have a great FAWM!

[pic]

❤️ Lovely as always! Happy to be back!

[pic]

Yay You're HERE!!!

[pic]

Aww this is lovely. Especially love the way you sing 'flow' and 'oh oh oh', it packs an emotional punch! Great first song

[pic]

thanks serene! have a freat fawm and i hope to see you soon at ramshackle!

[pic]

And she is off and running! Its a lovely song Wobbie, one that deserves a few listens! You so easily slip a lot of emotion in without fanfare and tricks. just lovely

[pic]

thanks john!

[pic]

Oh the descriptions here are wonderful. Hope this gets played for the Ramshackle Collectives!

[pic]

i already played it to 2 of the inspirations behind the song and they both cried haha! thanks andy!

[pic]

How to do psychedelia without any effects!

[pic]

oooh interesting, thanks reinder

[pic]

I love your music so much. I wanna be a diamond with a rainbow in it. Your voice is just so impactful. Great performance great tune great vibe

[pic]

thank you!

[pic]

This is spectacular! I love how you hold those notes with such grace. Good stuff, Wobbie.

[pic]

thanks matt!

[pic]

Lovely. I particularly liked the melody direction you took with the "more than you'll ever know" line ... I liked the layered recurring themes too .. symbolism, analogy, metaphor and the oh oh oh. And to top it off, it has warm and uplifting message!

[pic]

thank you :)

[pic]

Ah… this is such a delightful tribute with wonderfully descriptive images. Love the little excuses. Wonderfully paced delivery and driving strum. Love the flow of the melody!

[pic]

thanks Liz

[pic]

Lovely song, and lovely sentiment. As always, your writing is so good with some great rhymes. A wonderful first FAWM song!

[pic]

thanks Ken :)

[pic]

Beautiful and inspirational song! Thanks for sharing!

[pic]

thank you :)

[pic]

This really nice, great melodies going on here. My favourite part was the sound of the line "All part of the show", maybe a bridge building of that sound suspended on the C chord would be cool? Nice work

[pic]

thank you :)
