Artist Bio

Influences:   Sir Anthony Hopkins

I've been acting in motion pictures going as far back as the early 80s. Not wanting to be a one trick pony as my 60th year on this earth is on the not-too-distant horizon, and me being a longtime fan of the aural arts, I had my son, Weston, set me up with a portable computer and a copy of Ableton Live.

It's time to give this music thing a shot.

@barbara good one! I enjoyed the guitar playing and tones in track #5 (A Little Blues) very much....looking forward to hear more of this ....

Wow, I'm Nic, and I'm not sure if I'm happy. I heard I needed to come by and have a look. What is going on here?

  • @ustaknow 5 weeks

Hey Nick, don't know how you did it with no email here, but, yeah, -- got the proof of life pics and eleanor response. gud,4yah! ๐Ÿ˜€ NOLA was a blast, -- next time!

Yeah, it is difficult to know if this profile is really what it says it is, but I have been in the "benefit of the doubt" camp, and I have wished that the community had honored those wishes expressed for "no special treatment" and "treat me like any other stranger" here. We don't make unwitting collaborators out of newbies (or even old hands, as the current thread discussion makes clear). That's not cool, imo. You didn't need your song page cluttered with work that isn't yours, and even makes you the subject. I'm really sorry for this playful but totally disrespectful activity. If it's you, I just want to support what you alone come up with. I hope if it's you, you'll give us another chance to treat you like any other, and not like someone to tease and goad into posting songs, just because we wonder if maybe we're being punked. We don't know you; we only know your presence on screen or in interviews, but that doesn't give any of us the right to act so familiar in this setting with you, a person exploring their creativity. I'm just here to tell you that this activity has not sat well with me.

Literally can't tell if this is a joke or real, which makes this amazing. Well done and good on you either way.

Hey Nick (Nic ๐Ÿ˜€ )... so, Nick 'till I know for sure ๐Ÿ˜€ hahhh... anyway therefore, a friend who says he knows, said to ask what you had in your pocket when driving Elanor, in, of course, "Gone in 60 Seconds".

  • @iwilleatyou  7 weeks

I'm not sure if this is legit but if so...from one Nick Cave fan to another...welcome.

  • @ustaknow 7 weeks

Great choice and sounds it exactly, 335 to the Fender.

What's your DAW signal chain, -- it's clean, and done well.

Any vocals considered, you or maybe Lisa or Weston if hanging around? Remember, what you do here you can take a donation for and send to, e.g. the Royal United Hospital baby care units, for further support.

Again, you'll need a "proof of life pic" as I described ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well, hello to Faith and Tim, and let them know that I expect an invite this Spring... I do love those beaches!

  • @ustaknow 7 weeks

Great first track for you #06, -- now, what about he rest ๐Ÿ˜€ ? Oh, and what's your gear setup? That's a pretty clean, clear sound, well done!

  • @robynmackenzie  7 weeks

Hey, love your blues piece! I'm curious to know how you found our little corner of the internet.

  • @sph  7 weeks

I really like your vocal performance of "Love me tender" in Wild at heart

  • @ustaknow 7 weeks

    ๐Ÿ˜€ hahhh!, yeah, you are.

So, what key are you planning to sing in, and what instruments are you planning on using, the Strat, Les Paul, other? I'll get something around that, but want to hear what you do for Cindy first.

Also, did you get that selfie of the "FAWM2020" note of you with your tats I mentioned? Throw in a local News Paper w/date, they'll want proof of life.

-- Oh, and I want my car back too! (With a full tank of gas!)

  • @standup  7 weeks

Congrats on getting a few songs out there. Ahem.

  • @kahlo2013  7 weeks

Thank you, Mr. Cage! Looking forward to your music! Much appreciated!

  • @barbara  7 weeks

Seeing as youโ€™ve been made an unwitting collaborator a few times over, hereโ€™s something you may not realize yet as a fawmling. You can now go to the song page directly via your profile and use the Edit button, and then add Liner Notes of your own, tags, and other edits. Usually, we label who is doing the โ€˜speakingโ€™ so itโ€™s not confusing.

  • @mrpilotman 8 weeks

I really hope you make a National Treasure of a song. Something that would go into the archives of history!

  • @mglazier 8 weeks

Hey, Just reaching out, because i care and to say thank you for what you've shared with your acting art. - It's a lot. 14 songs in a month. I don't know how much time you have to dedicate. I have a day job and commuting and kids and ... life. In order to try to achieve the goal you sort of how to turn off your inner editor a bit and "get something done." Of course, I am telling you what I have trouble with. I want it to be great. Every time. Guess what. It is OK to fail and have some clunkers. I have pieces and starts to 6 songs this month. I hope to work most every day and then when I get 14 or so stop with the germinating of new stuff and refine the work I have started. best -m

  • @marvsmooth  Feb 4

Mr Cage, what would you think if I write you a voiceover piece for this? - https://fawm.org/songs/101716/

  • @vegansongs  Feb 2

    Hello, welcome to FAWM!

  • @dianaviney Feb 2

Looking forward to hearing what you create. My daughter (15) has been trying out Ableton in her high school music production class. She writes music on guitar and sings and she found it incredibly difficult. My mantra for this FAWM is "done is better than not sharing". Hoping to shut down the reptilian brain. Happy Fawming.

  • @rainchaser  Feb 1

I'm hoping this is the real Nicolas Cage! He did sing in a A Score To Settle, so maybe this account is legitimate.
