I honestly have no idea where this one came from. It felt like I was just pulling the lyrics out of the air; no editing or rewriting was required at all. It was fun recording it, too.
Lyrics
Seen it, done it, bought the t-shirt They're sure to let you know Couldn't be more extroverted Put it all on show
They're in my socials They're in my feed I know more about them Than I'll ever need
I have no Facebook I'm not subscribed Ask me if I'll click on "Like" I'll run and hide I'm not on Insta Or their mailing list And so as far as they're concerned I don't exist
Seeking authenticity A thing they always lack They only ever follow me So I will follow back
I've no interest in TikTok It kinda makes me sick The golden rule they never follow Don't be a dick

I like the closing stanza. "Don't be a dick" should be the 21st century golden rule if there ever was one.
It feels like a duet between the on-line and off-line characters. Or maybe a three way. Poster, lurker, hider out. It’s a little like the inside of my head, wanting to share, wanting to hide. This song will be bouncing in my head whenever I’m trying to convince myself to share more music.
Love the insidious creeping feeling in this and the build up in the chorus. Great little instrumental too, like a funeral procession. Fun romp.
Quite a fun romp, and sums up a lot of online life these days. The instrumental bridge breakdown is a wonderful touch, highlighting the dark undercurrent beneath it all. Nice!
Well that's a fun song! I really like the verses and the "don't be a dick" seems like a mic drop moment =D
Just from the first note, you can feel the joy you had in making this lol. What a fun piece. The chorus, just plain masterful. This is a gem, loved it!
Such a fun lyric, played with verve. A great tune to listen to!
I like the entire song's sound and structure. The build in the section from "socials" to "mailing list" keeps interest high.
(I kind of miss the days when LiveJournal was enough to keep in touch with everyone I knew.)
Sometimes our best writing is what comes from nowhere and just flows. As this does. Certainly a song for our times.
