Travel broadens the mind

#folky #one-take #singersongwriter Playing catchup so recording a one (and only) take on this one. For those interested, the rain has stopped now and it's turned out nice again.
Lyrics
Been away for a while, but now I’m home And the sun seems brighter And the day is warmer Been away for a while, but now I’m home
The things you take for granted you barely even notice Until you go away for a while, then they come into focus We all live in our bubbles, but travel broadens the mind And without even looking, it’s amazing what you can find
Been away for a while, but now I’m home to stay Woke up feeling refreshed, in my own bed today And though I was alone, it didn’t feel that way I got a funny feeling, it’s gonna be okay
They say the journey is the thing, more than the destination You add up all the hours you spend, to find the real duration Travel broadens the mind I’ve heard, I don’t mean to be unkind But when I think of all the delays, and of feeling confined
We’ll be another 10 minutes or so, just awaiting clearance So just sit tight for a little while longer, we’re doing all we can Thank you for choosing to fly with us today, you know it means so much, And we value our loyal members, we’ll be keeping in touch
Been away for a while, I thought I’d never get home But now the travel’s behind me, I can turn on my phone

This sounds intimate and evocative. The emotion of the vocals works so well with the strumming progression. This is really well-written! Thanks for sharing. 😀
I could almost hear a chilled-out drum line in the background, played with brushes rather than sticks.
Really great melody, once again, and that musical accompaniment underlines the vocal emotion. I like the sound, and how you've gone gentle with it. The lift on "it's aMAzing" is especially nice.
I love travel for the destination, but not for the airport experience. I once chose a bad connection through your city so I could go downtown and experience a bit of Amsterdam. That was before security procedures made that sort of thing impossible. I miss the old days of travel.
I quite enjoyed your song. Good picking and lovely voice.
Well, I've been stranded in Italy once when they found a WWII bomb that was found or transported by the airport which closed after we had been waiting half a day. I agree that waiting is not fun (anywhere). Nice performance.
