A bit of back story. After being absent from the professional performing band scene for almost forty years, I was recruited into an outfit of stellar musicians and creatives. And every time I picked up my bass for the past five months I asked myself whether I was good enough. Yesterday, the fabulous Wendy Ross (violinist with Magna Carta, Jon Palmer Band, Area 40) had me sat across from her in her kitchen and gave me a pep talk.

The video is phone footage I took a couple of weeks ago on a morning walk with my doggo. :-)

About eight hours from conception (started at 6am) to finished track.

Gosh, I haven't heard about Magna Carta for quite a while! Great band! Impostor syndrome is a real thing; here I am sitting around asking myself how I can call myself a musician when there are such awesome talents like yourself out there! The little tinkly line is nice 'n' busy. Awesome bass work, as usual. Nice work.

Aww. Thank you! Wendy is the violinist in The Captain Of The Lost Waves White Metal Star Orchestra that I was drafted into. And she and I have become good mates (both classically trained). The reason I was in her kitchen is because I'd taken my test gear round to see why her induction hob has stopped working! :-D

Is that the toneknob stargazer? I bought a korg collection yesterday and got a stargazer reverb thing as a free gift I’m looking forward to playing with today! You’re such an epic musician my dude! Your songs really get the theater of the mind working overtime. The choir bits the bass dem flutes! The GUITARS so cool

Thank you again for the kind words. The vst I'm using is by Linda Audio, so not sure whether it's the same thing. https://plugins4free.com/plugin/3966

Even the best need the odd pep talk, you're always there for me when I need one! This has a lot of lovliness going on, bass line is epic and all the band practise you've been in is really showing here. I'm liking that rawk sounding guitar, great contrast between all the instruments and all have their place.

So pleased you like it. And thank you for the lovely feedback. :-)

I'm enjoying the bass line here! You can join my band any time :). How about "The Dollis Hillbillies"?

Viva Dollis Hillbillies! :-D

Oh, this is splendidly groovy. The choir-with-glockenspiel sections are a gorgeous contrast. And it's always nice to have pep talks. Particularly when they're from awesome people!

Thank you loads, Chris. :-) Wendy really IS awesome. :-)
