You Feel Like Home

Liner Notes
Busy, busy, busy this weekend. But managed to carve out a little time to get a first song on the board! Sadly no time for context, other than to say it's #firstfruits #acousticonetake #indiefolk
Will be back Monday :)
Lyrics
On the plane Lanes of fireflies trace out The motorway Coming in to land Down somewhere I know you’re there And you feel like home
Driving back The Uber driver flicks a random Station on Plays your favourite song I’m dosing off To the Hounds of Love And you feel like home Yeah, you feel like home
Every time I go I know I’ll feel the same about it Like I’m hanging on a rope Don’t know how I’d cope Without you at the other end Gently pulling me back home
Close the door Familiar scent of lavender And chamomile Floating down the hall To breathe the air Is to know you’re there And you feel like home Yeah, you feel like home Yeah, you feel like Oh, you feel like home

First listening fruits here and they are in season, babyyyyy!!!! This makes me feel things, I have tears starting to well, a smile starting to form. It’s bitter sweet, it’s a tinge sad but overall has a hopeful bent to it. You’re the citizen Kane of people…goin in for seconds!
Dreamy opening. You can feel the yearning and love for getting back home to someone you love very much. Really beautiful stuff man, loved it.
Lovely start! I've had plenty of travels over the last few weeks, and you speak much truth here. I especially like that image at the start of fireflies on the motorway.
Even though we may love to travel, there's something special about arriving on home turf. You've not only managed to paint a picture of the steps we take in arriving, you've also been highly successful in making us feel the emotions involved.
Lovely melody and lyric. I especially like how open this is. I am enjoying your playing, too.
I love when you do simple productions like this. This is perfect. That open tuning, the fingerstyle guitar, vocal phasing and the sentiment. That’s a high bar you’ve set right out of the gate. Beautiful song DT…
oooh that opening progression made me oooh out loud. The lyrics and vocal.... omg David, i had to pause my commentary to have a proper big ole cry. Well that hit a spot! It is my own overlay associations (I completely went at Hounds of Love) but this is beautiful. First listen of the season, and i didnt expect to be totes emosh! I love it but am not relistening! thanks! btw i love the lines of fireflies (Also a lyric association for me that got me blubbing.) Fantastic start, utterly beautiful song
Ah lovely finger style. The gentle vocals and beautiful melody carry the touching lyrics perfectly. I love the details you include -making us witnesses to the quiet joy of having a partner that feels like home - which is so perfectly celebrated in this song. I truly enjoyed every note. Bravo David!
A bit melancholy, which is perfect for a song about home. The longing continues and this lands just right.
gorgeous acoustic guitar and sensitive yet powerful vocals, so strong but never overwhelming the context. you do a skillful job in simultaneously evoking the movement of travel with the comfort of home as the song moves through the first to the latter, desired state, i like the falsetto on the final lines of the verses. it is well sustained thought the melodic phrase and for me it shows off your range to its best. excellent start to the spring and i look forward to hearing more on monday.
What a pretty and gentle song to kick off - nothing like home mate! As always your changes are right on point! This one has such a comforting feel! Great first up song.
Really nice work here, David. You do a great job lyrically putting us in each scene and tying it back to the person you're looking forward to seeing: the runway lights guiding you there visually; the song on the radio reminding you of them aurally, and then, once you've arrived, the smells that let you know you're where you belong. Great job.
I like how this is both contemplative and cozy. Really nice vocals. I love the line “you feel like home”. Lovely listen!
