Driving 80

Liner Notes
This was a quick one but I saw the forum for the #onesynth challenge and had to dig in!
Instead of a physical synth, I used Cherry Audio's fabulous GX-80, an emulation of the Yamaha CS-80. So naturally you end up with kind of a #synth #synthpop #80s kind of situation. Almost sounds a little Casio Kids.
It was fun getting good drum sounds out of it too.
Might go back and add an obnoxious guitar solo over the outro :)
The random audio sample is from the Ken Burns Revolutions series ("After enduring combat cold and a bout of near fatal illness, Martin had decided he'd had enough."). Since my name's Martin it felt like too good of a sample to pass up.
Enjoy!

Wasn't sure where this was going from the gently quiet introduction; a bit Vangelis-y perhaps (with a CS-80, that's almost inevitable) but when that bass line kicked in, I was off and away. Lovely synthpop workout, and I really like the drums. I don't think it's something I've heard the CS-80 do before...
Thanks!
Yeah the intro builds a little weirdly but maybe something to revisit! I think with a CS-80 you're required at some point to go either Vangelis or Wonderful Christmastime :)
The drums were individual static hits that I bounced and moved into a Logic drum machine designer kit.
Really groovy, great changes that come in just at the right time to keep it interesting. Got me dancing making pancakes this morning. Love it
