Liner Notes

Moderators, please provide us with a way to "pin a song" to the very BOTTOM, hoping no one will ever actually listen to it.

Not real happy with this one. It was supposed to be a country song, but my methodology is to assign my lyrics a random chord progression and I'm not sure this one worked. Definitely didn't end up country.

And I'm not liking the melody and rhythm. It sounds too Little Douce Coupe-y (now you won't be able to unhear that) to me, too unoriginal.

Oh, I know you'll be kind in your reviews 'cuz we're supposed to keep it positive around here (but actually it's been kind of fun to tear into myself on this one!), but do be aware that I'll be rolling my eyes reading every review and trying to keep control of my gag reflex.

Have a great weekend!!

Lyrics

BEAUTY ALL AROUND

Words & Music By Jerry Pettit Facebook.com/JerryPettitMusic

Coffee's brewin' on a Sunday morning slow Kids are laughin' in the backyard down below Mama's humming while she's hanging sheets to dry There's a kind of magic money just can't buy

Neighbor waves from his old pickup truck Says his garden's growin', we're in luck Brings a bag of tomatoes to the door These little things are what we're living for

CHORUS: There's BEAUTY ALL AROUND In the simplest sacred ground In a stranger's smile, a helping hand In this small-town promised land Love's the thread that keeps us bound Yeah, there's BEAUTY ALL AROUND

Friday night beneath the football lights Everybody shows up, wrong or right We're all cheering for these kids we've known Since they were babies, how they've grown

Potluck dinners at the county fair Everybody's welcome, pull up a chair Stories told and tears we've cried With these people standing by our side

CHORUS: There's BEAUTY ALL AROUND In the simplest sacred ground In a stranger's smile, a helping hand In this small-town promised land Love's the thread that keeps us bound Yeah, there's BEAUTY ALL AROUND

Sun goes down on another blessed day Porch light's glowin' as the children play Count your blessings 'fore you close your eyes Every ordinary moment's a gift in disguise

When the storms roll in and the nights get long We lean on each other, we stay strong 'Cause family ain't just blood and name It's who shows up again and again

CHORUS: There's BEAUTY ALL AROUND In the simplest sacred ground In a stranger's smile, a helping hand In this small-town promised land Love's the thread that keeps us bound Yeah, there's BEAUTY ALL AROUND

You can hide it if nothing else. I made a track private, it shows up, but no one can see it.

Nah, this is cool. I think you’ve undersold it. It works on its own terms, even if it didn’t land as “proper” country in the way you meant. I still enjoyed it.

Out of curiosity, did you write it mainly for yourself, or were you aiming for other ears? In my case, it worked, so there. Aha.

Oh, and it ended a bit abruptly, I could’ve done with another minute, I wasn’t exactly gagging to skip it.

Also, for what it’s worth, if I don’t like something I just don’t comment. It’s a very easy opt-out.

It's not often that the liner notes sound like we shouldn't play the tune. Fooled you! I played it top to bottom. Even heard some chords that a country singer would never use. (Extra points for that!)

If you're not happy with this one, remember that everything is done at speed during FAWM, so we can't be too precious about every tune. And now you're at 13 songs so it looks like you're going to hit the goal or beyond. Way to go, Jerry!

“In my little deuce coop you know what I like…” well, the southern accent is loud and clear so does that make it country? But I know what you mean about wanting a pin on the bottom. I was thinking the same thing do I stopped pinning songs.
