Liner Notes

After last night's cut up challenge I went in search of more useless websites for inspiration and found many.

Lyrics

I activated a fidget spinner It was still going round when I had my dinner It was digital so that might explain it And it felt kind of dumb, I have to admit

But it was therapeutic Like listening to music It seemed to scratch an itch It addressed my neurological glitch

I guessed how much for the bible of Elvis It would go for a lot, that was my guess And I found a website called pointer where you moved your mouse And it scoured the net for random people Every one of them was pointing at your mouse, for some reason No idea

Then back to the spinner And it is still spinning And yet I can’t look away I guess its a new way of stimming Back to the spinner The spinner My new favourite website Fidget spinner

Wow. This unlocked some levels of self noticing for me. My daughter introduced me to fidget spinners when she was a little person. Listening to you sing I noticed that I use scrolling headlines or facebook posts or whatever like a fidget spinner - a way to clear my head in between picking up things I mean to do. Also got me thinking how comfortable it is to do one thing at a time - being down one rabbit hole - although my instincts are to spend a lot of time imagining whole warrens full of rabbit holes to dive into. There is something about the way you play and sing this - the space you give the lines, the way you seem to believe what you’re saying, the way the stresses are all right so it feels like conversation that makes it feel like you are talking directly to me and I have your undivided attention.

+1 on the Inception call out. The amused spoken aside in this one was a nice twist. I grow ever more amazed at your ability to write an engaging and catchy song about pretty much anything. I'm relating rather more strongly to this one than I usually do.

(I'm very (very!) neurodivergent myself, but despite this I didn't realise until last year that fidget spinners are the equivalent of catnip for some ND folk. Now, it's obvious.)

are you sure that you're not in that Christopher Nolan film? Really cool song - i like the guitar sound and the idea of searching down the rabbit hole of weird internet pages
