ZeCoop: My first collab of the year! I love writing with SWG and I knew he'd come up with something special when I sent him this one, which I wrote back on the 10th. It's always fun putting a ton of pedals on a guitar and soaking in the atmosphere. Two pedals on my guitar set the main tone this time - MojoHand Kalamashoegazer is a combination delay/reverb and Oceans 11 has an awesome shimmer setting. SWG took my draft "DelayShimmer" title and ran with it to higher places. Thanks a ton for lifting both the song and my spirits!! :)

I played an SX Liquid (P90s) electric 6 string guitar into a ton of pedals and a Peavey Stereo Chorus amp; a Harley Benton P-bass and 1973 Ludwig drums

SWG: It is always my joy to collaborate with @zecoop every year (if and when we get around to it) because I think we both step up our game. Though I do remember a song about death squirrels...but I digress. This year's track came to me almost exactly as you hear this final mix. It was gorgeous and was titled "shimmering". So I went with that concept for the lyric. If you've been following anything I've been doing for the last 3-5 years, you might know I'm in a bit of a deconstruction phase, so, this song describes some of that feeling I felt when I first started the process of detangling myself from religion. The weightlessness of floating in the space of what comes next. I know have a new sense of peace and lightness in my own heart about things that used to hold me down. I think that's probably something lots of people could relate too, regardless of their association with religion or deconstruction. My journey is my own, but I know it's not unique. Thank you, John for just letting me be myself through expression wherever that leads.

This is so nice and floaty and shimmery...I love it. Such great images in the lyrics, the paper bag floating in the streetside and the leaf that could stay in the tree, all so reflected in the music.

Shades of early Pink Floyd with the atmospheric guitar work! Great mysterious lyrics that blends right into the instruments.

That first stanza is stunning. And the arrangement delivers it perfectly. Dreamy, gauzy, floaty goodness. With a rather splendid guitar solo, too.

I must admit that I did not expect to hear some shoegaze / dreampop here. The pedal magic works, and these half whispered vocals add something to it. I love the tone of the lead guitar

This is stellar and celestial, totally a dream in the vocals department, especially where there are octaves happening. Great choices for synths! I love the idea of being shimmering and weightless; the song definitely achieves that feel.

So lush and cavernous...you can get lost in this. SWG's voice is perfect for this and those lyrics are wonderful...I'm feeling gliding and weightless now and it's not just my nightcap... ;) This simply excellent.
