You Are Not Alone

Liner Notes
Lyrics
If you let us in Maybe we can help
Ease the struggle You’ve taken upon yourself
Are we mis-understood
Is our love’s abundance no good
Fighting like a soldier, in a battle to get older Couldn’t be bolder, still it’s a lot to shoulder
Showing no fear, in every way a stoic An approach undeniably heroic
You are a rock A hero, a champion
Are there not an avalanche of emotions Barrelling in
The beauty to reflect
To minimize regret
Fighting like a soldier, in a battle to get older Couldn’t be bolder, still it’s a lot to shoulder
Showing no fear, in every way a stoic An approach undeniably heroic
It’s ok (you are not alone) It’s ok (you are not alone)
You are not alone You are not alone You are not alone

just from the jump..that is some clean guitar playin' my friend. your lyrics are so conversational and one, I imagine so many of us have either had with someone in need, or secretly wish someone would have with us, to ease the burden of living. you lay out the human condition and it's frailties with so much compassion. and bottom line "you are not alone" when you sing it...I can believe it. this is true to the bone great stuff! beautiful beautiful song.
This is beautiful in every way, as are you. The dilemma of seeing someone you love "fighting like a soldier" but somehow not being able to accept help is such a heartbreaker. And very relatable. I love the bluesy descending run on 'You are not alone', and the general guitar craft and touch are impeccable as always. You can hear the feeling in your vocal. Love this.
your understand of ebb and flow and melodic accompaniment is amazing! such a wonderful conversational rhythm, really lovely song and superb guitar and vocals!
Love that guitar--and your voice is REALLY sounding great today on this one! ❤️
Lovely sentiment beautifully delivered.
Beautiful lyrics, and great guitar as ever. Both really resonate, and your voice is great as ever.
Sounds like you're talking about somebody who is trying to be as hard and tough as possible. These people will fall apart at some point. The guitar is soooo good, these little runs
Really love your fingerpicking style, so expressive and full of beautiful details, those cool little slides and hammer ons and that great sense of timing.
There’s something really intimate about the way the guitar and vocal move together too, almost like they’re gently answering each other, which makes the whole thing feel warm and reassuring without ever sounding overdone.
What guitar are you using here by the way?
That geetar…so good. Your voice is so great I know my comments are repetitive but damn dude your voice has such character and your playing is so emotive and clean. It’s an honor to know ya my friend!
Oh rich! Beautiful playing, I am really digging this alternate tuning, but especially these lyrics and your emotion filled delivery. Your words feel like a warm blanket of safety :)
hope and encouragement in a wonderful musical wrapper - really enjoyed
Your guitar work is fantastic. Impressive and so flavourful. Are you familiar with Cory Branan? You guys have a vibe. Great job!
Was not familiar with Cory Branan but I did just listen to some of his music. If my vibe is 1/100 as good as that guy, I’m happy. Not sure I see the connection but I’ll take it as a very nice compliment…So thanks!
I love your guitar on this and how the lyrics play with the guitar part almost as if it is a conversation. Your rhymes here are so clever and satisfying - the almost throw-away vibe as you deliver the first verse ("Are we mis understood/Is our love’s abundance no good") tries to trick us into thinking that the song is casual, but the message is powerful!
Love the sentiment, Rich. Your words mean a lot, easy to understand, relatable, and really make you feel supported.
Lovely feeling. The character of that sweet-rugged voice of yours really shines through. Beautiful guitar-playing. I love the hammer-ons and subtle string bending. Gentle and sensitive lyrics. Nice rhyming from soldier to shoulder through older and bolder.... and a valuable message ... you are not alone!
beautiful all round. the sentiment/message, the playing, the vocal performance, the music writing, the lyrics, (Are there not an avalanche of emotions Barrelling in--- love the phrasing of that) and just the beautiful mix/balance of all those things. Well done too for so deftly handling such a subject in a song. top song rich!
