This song was inspired by a trip I took to the Desert botanical garden over the holidays. I learned about the Cactus flower known as “The queen of the night” Which only blooms one night a year. It seemed like rich soil for a tsp song.

Lyrics
She’s just like a cactus flower She had a way that would allow her To comes around only once a year She generates elation and fear
She was known as the Queen of the night When she shows up and she smells so nice but as the night gives way to daytime you only see her red tail lights
Refrain: Cactus Flower, why cant you stay? Cant we see you just one more day? Cactus flower, you smell so sweet You stick around you sweep me off my feet
She a nocturnal creature it seems she prowls around, while most of us dream Though we beg her and we plead By light of day she gotta leave
Sometimes I wonder what life would be like if she stayed around more than one night She’s like a shooting star in the night sky A constellation with a short lifetime Refrain Please Stay…. Another Day…. We want to see you… We want to play

I had no idea a cactus flower only bloomed one night a year. That’s pretty fascinating. Loved how you used it as a metaphor for a fleeting relationship. Cool topic…great how you turned it into a song.
Desert Botanical Gardens has been one of my hangouts for decades. I love using this special flower to talk about a special person, all the connections you make. Nicely done.
Such a beautiful tune and a brilliant metaphor. Again you make your life in the southwest so appealing and full of the beauty around you. I love that you explore all the aspects of the area, like the botanical gardens. I’m sure that splitting your time between 2 vastly different climate zones makes you much more observant to the beauty in each world. Great song!
