HOW AM I TO TELL YOUR BRIDE?

by @brisk

Liner Notes

Let's slap a bunch of echoey reverb on something with a vaguely folksongy bent! Oh - and the cooker timer going off at that exact moment at the end was a happy accident. #murder? #singersongwriter #floaty

Lyrics

My son - Could I ever do the things you've done? So young...

Night owl - Have you ever killed a chick from shame? So would you blame me?

How am I to tell you? How am I to tell your bride? How am I to tell your bride in the middle of the night?

Ooh, Ah!

Blood moon - Did it look as though she'd merely swoon'd? 'pon the red dune?

My son Could I ever do the things you've done? So young

I was entranced by the shimmery way the meaning changed for me every time you switched between How am I to tell you? How am I to tell your bride? Feelings of love a murder? What is it? I kept thinking I’d solved it, but no. good to hear your voice.

Ha, thanks for listening. I'm not sure what's happened either, but it has to be pretty awful. I was thinking of that Meatloaf song, "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)"!

The stereo forest of harmonies and echoes of harmonies and echoes of echoes of... and so on... is such an extraordinary effect. I'm listening in my studio headphones, and I feel like this track deserves to be experienced as such. There's such a wonderful cascading flow to the 'how am I to tell' lines. Love the oscillating guitar part. And the mysterious lyrics. Very magical, very enjoyable, very YOU.

Wow, what a mix! All the elements are so carefully weaved together. I especially like the subdued vocals, and when they start to harmonize…chef’s kiss! Excellent listen!

This is really lovely - its all the little touches that lifts it from good to much more!

Another stroke of genius. What you do with your little embellishments just tickles my fancy. I broke out in a big smile at those vocal gymnastics after "swoon'd". That was so beautiful and perfectly done. Probably my favorite part. The beeper at the end was great too...But not as great...

This song really touched me in the heart somehow the lyrics go deep and the guitar goes with it. Well I also like the vocals and the echo
