And Now It Is You
Liner Notes
This one is kind of lazy in the lyrics department, but I was experimenting with a new rhythmic foundation going between 3/2 with a drag triplet in the verses and 4/4 in the chorus, and trying to sing over it, which even with the simple lyrics turned out to be quite a challenge. Still.. I think this one has potential to be developed, if I could just get that melody to fit over the rhythm.
Lyrics
I alone arrive upon the doorstep of this home a point of exhaustion
where i sing I have no expectation I can bring just my lost promise
from a time when all was love and beauty light sublime shining right through me
now its you with no time to tarry days are few in the hope you still carry
I hope that you don’t leave I hope that you don’t stay I hope that you can live live in your own way
I alone survive against the torrent of this rain and yet my strength is waning
what I sing is all I have but it is more than I can say to offer just some meaning
from a time that seems so near yet feels many l ives before I was also just beginning
now its you with no way out from your way through all the nights remaining
I hope that you don’t leave I hope that you don’t stay I hope that you can live live in your own way

thanks man! I was not trying to be toooo humblebraggy there with that comment about laziness... I just meant kind of exactly what you pointed out, that they are vague without many good sensory kinds of references. Appreciate the feedback :)
So interesting. I don't think the lyrics seem lazy. These are some of my favorite kind of lyrics, a little vague, enough that the listener can put their own meaning to them. There is a timeless quality to this, really good! Loved the laugh in there...and the ending. Classic. One my favorites that I've heard this year to be honest.
