Started with the lyric for this one and then had fun shaping some sounds around it. I guess I'm doing a lot of slower songs this month. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lyrics

She hid herself away Inside the small cocoon Feeling so close and safe There in its cozy womb Protected from the world Nothing could make her weep In stillness seeming dead Or maybe just asleep

Cocoon, cocoon, cocoon, cocoon Cocoon, cocoon, cocoon, cocoon

That silken shroud she spun It served her as a shield But it will come undone Its resident revealed Retreat can never be A state of permanence What new form will she take In metamorphosis

Cocoon, cocoon, cocoon, cocoon Cocoon, cocoon, cocoon, cocoon

No longer caged and small No longer dark and blind She’ll spread gossamer wings Leaving the husk behind

Super stuff. The lyrics remind me of Suzanne Vega, who's one of my favourite singer-songwriters.

I dig it. Nice slow song awesomeness. The bass is killer, as is your voice. This is great. And nice use of effects!

interesting concept, something that never occured to me. when the caterpillar cocoons, it emerges eventually as a butterfly..but when people do the same, is there hope of their emergence as something beautiful, or do they just stay cocooned? i like the slow beat with the worlds rushing over them like warm water.

Nice track! The clicks accompanying the clicky “cocoon” sound super cool, not to mention the contrast of the chorus to the smoothness of everything else! Very poetic lyrics as well. You’re a natural at these vibey slow songs!

Each of these sounds is intriguing and daring: the muffled kick, the bass an octave below where it "should" be; the way the tick tick percussion on the chorus bounces off the k k k k sounds of the repeated title. The dark and minimalist soundscape tells the same story and communicates the same feeling as the lyric. I think you as an artist have a talent for choosing just the right notes and sounds to bring the song to life without over-egging the pudding.

Co-co-co-co-cocoon - what a brilliant hook! This is all about the atmosphere. Love the dry kick and the fact that you intro just drums. The backing vocals are absolutely golden, as are the little hints of percussion you’re adding. Another amazing track :)

Hannah! This is a VIBE. Honestly wish I could write slower songs. Your vocal tone on this reminds me of some of Fluerie's slower stuff. Honestly would listen to a whole album of this. So well done.

Drum beat just mixed my heart beat. That bass is salvation to my heart and vocals just cured me feeling like walkin in air so light after hearing this. Something so perfect in this.
